UPCOMING: Motor City Comic Con, May 18-20, Novi, MI

*Disclosure: I will be attending Motor City Comic Con as media. The opinions expressed here, however, are my own.

I last attended the Motor City Comic Con in 2015, and they had a great panel lineup that year: one of the most memorable panels I attended was William Shatner's, who is one of my favorite actors, and they also had stars from The Walking Dead there, and more. I also was able to interview Jodi Lyn O'Keefe, from Vampire Diaries and Nash Bridges.

This year, the panel schedule is just as fab, and I will be attending Saturday and Sunday, and possibly some of Friday, too.

General information:
  • The comic con will take place Friday, May 18th, through Sunday, May 20th, at the Suburban Collection Showcase in Novi (Grand River Ave.). Parking is $10 on-site or $5 across the street.
  • For adults, prices are $20 for Friday only, $40 for Saturday only, and $30 for Sunday only, or you can pay $75 for an all-weekend pass (Fri, Sat, Sun). Each pass has a $2 service fee, as well. For children, prices range from $10-20, and kids 5 and under get in free.
  • Hours are: Friday, 12:30-7pm; Saturday, 10:30-7pm; and Sunday, 10:30-5pm
  • Click here to see all media guests attending, and here to see all comic guests.

Panels information:
The panels are one of my favorite things about attending comic cons. I saw Wallace Shawn at the Indiana Comic Con last month, and he's going to be at this one too ... I would attend his panel again except it's the same time as another which I'm interested in.

The full panel schedule for this year can be found here. The ones I am most interested in attending are:
Christy Carlson Romano, Even Stevens, Kim Possible
  • Friday, 2pm, Christy Carlson Romano and Will Friedle
    • Anything’s Possible! – Let’s throw it back to the 90’s- 00’s with Christy Carlson Romano and Will Friedle as they relive the best moments from Kim Possible, Boy Meets World, Even Stevens and more! These two stars crossed paths as voice actors in Kim Possible, and have had incredibly interesting careers both in the sound booth and on the screen. Stay for the Q&A and find out all the juicy details of what they’re up to now!
  • Saturday, 1pm, Val Kilmer (also 1pm: Wallace Shawn)
    • From Juilliard to Batman and Beyond – Val Kilmer is one of the most prolific actors of his generation. The youngest student ever admitted to the drama department at Juilliard, his career has spanned decades and countless awards and recognitions. Come prepared to hear all about the incredible experiences he’s had on screen and in the arts, and what he’s planning for the future!
Val Kilmer, Batman, Motor City Comic Con
  • Saturday, 3pm: either the kids of IT or Jenna Elfman
    • These Kids are Where IT’s at – Here’s a panel you just can’t miss! Join the stars of the sensational 2017 film adaptation of Stephen King’s It for an eerily epic event. Chosen Jacobs, Jaeden Lieberher, Jack Dylan Grazer, Jackson Robert Scott and Wyatt Oleff are here to discuss their favorite behind the scenes moments from filming this horrifying phenomenon, and what’s coming up next!
    • No Need to Fear The Walking Dead – Jenna Elfman may be known as Dharma from the witty ABC sitcom Dharma and Greg, but her career has been nothing short of exciting ever since! Come check out this panel where Jenna talks about her most recent work on AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead.
  • Saturday, 3pm to 5pm (am hoping to make the second half of this): the cast of Superman (1978)
  • Sunday, 12pm: Summer Glau, Firefly
    • This Firefly Fell from Heaven – From Angel to Firefly and on to Terminator, Summer Glau has portrayed our favorite characters over the years. Now she’s here in the Motor City to tell us all about her experiences and what she’s up to now! Come and enjoy every minute of this panel and Q&A.
  • Sunday, 1pm: Jerome Flynn, Game of Thrones
    • He’s GoT the goods! – Join us as Jerome Flynn talks all things Game of Thrones! Stick around for the Q&A portion where you can chat with Jerome about his illustrious acting and singing career, and what his plans are once Game of Thrones wraps up its final season.

Overall, the panels schedule for this year looks great, and I'm looking forward to attending Motor City Comic Con for the second time.

Have you ever been to a comic con or a similar convention? If so, what was your favorite part of it?
