Introducing MOD Pizza's newest seasonal pizza, the Isaac {& giveaway!}

*Disclosure: I received compensation (meal + gift card) from MOD Pizza in exchange for this post. The opinions expressed here, however, are my own.

This past weekend, I was able to stop by the new MOD Pizza, in Troy, MI, to sample its seasonal pizza, the Isaac, as well as a few other menu selections.

I'm a big fan of MOD (check out my other MOD posts here), and so I was glad to see they opened one in Troy recently—it's about a 5-minute drive from my house, and previously the closest one was in Rochester Hills, about a 20-30 minute drive.

MOD's current seasonal pizza is “The Isaac," which is named after a young customer who formed a special bond with his local MOD Squad and sadly died of suicide last year. To keep his spirit alive and to spread awareness of mental health in teens, Isaac’s parents teamed up with MOD Pizza and The Jed Foundation, an organization committed to the well-being of young adults, to create a pizza in his name. The pizza features olive oil, garlic, ricotta, red onion, roasted grape tomatoes, balsamic vinaigrette and basil.

My boyfriend and I split the Isaac, as well as a make-your-own pizza (what I usually order at MOD), and an order of their cinnamon sticks, which are always divine. The Isaac has less toppings than I usually get on my pizza, but was actually very delicious. I think the basil got forgotten somewhere, and we also did a balsamic fig drizzle instead of the balsamic vinaigrette at the end, which I recommend; it was definitely tasty.

We also both had Boylan sodas with our pizzas, which were tasty—I had creme soda, my favorite, and he had root beer.

And you HAVE to finish your meal with MOD's "No-Name Cake"—its like a Hostess Ding-Dong but they use no preservatives. We saved ours for the day afterwards and it was delicious.

One of the things I really like about MOD Pizza is that they're always giving back to the community, and the Isaac pizza is no exception—MOD will be donating some of its profits from the Isaac pizza (a minimum of $50,000) to The JED Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting emotional health and preventing suicide for our nation’s teens and young adults.

"Make-your-own" pizza at MOD

I highly recommend MOD if you're looking for a tasty, budget-friendly pizza—$8.27 gets you a "MOD sized" (11-inch) pizza or a salad, and if you do the "make-your-own" pizza you can choose however many toppings you want. However, I recommend trying out the Isaac pizza this month, as it was delicious.

Have you ever been to MOD Pizza? If so, what did you order, and how was your experience?
