The Friday Five, 5/8/26: 5 things I've been up to this week

Image
It's been a long two weeks—last weekend was supposed to be the "fun" weekend where we went to Indiana (my husband for a bachelor party day, for a friend who is getting married, and then us both celebrating birthdays with my in-laws), but unfortunately Baby K had a fever that Friday, so we ended up staying put. This weekend is the "not fun" weekend, as I have colonoscopy prep ...  Green Lantern deep dish round pizza with pepperoni, from Southfield What I've been up to this week: Eating good food. Definitely eating whatever I want this week because I can't eat hardly anything Saturday, Sunday, and Monday due to prep ... we had Great Greek takeout a few days ago, I think maybe last weekend, and also Noori via Doordash. Last night we had Thai Fresh (in Northville) via Doordash as well, so I'll have some of those leftovers for lunch today, and on Wednesday night, we had Green Lantern, from the Southfield location—they sometimes send me free pizza or chees...

The Friday Five, 4/3/26: 5 things I've been up to this week

This week went by super fast for some reason, and I'm glad it's Friday because I've had a cough all week, so I'm hoping I can get more rest this weekend to kick it.  & Juliet, Fisher Theatre, Detroit What I've been up to this week: Seeing & Juliet at the Fisher Theatre. I had been looking forward to this one but wasn't entirely familiar with its plot, other than it was a twist on Romeo & Juliet . A friend mentioned it's a jukebox musical, and I was like, what's that? Turns out it used pop songs from the last 20-25 years or so and it was a TON of fun—it probably ranks up there with my top musicals now (in case you're wondering: Waitress and Phantom of the Opera ). It's at the Fisher until April 12, and you can find more info about it here . Going to Sam's Club . Not the most exciting thing in the world, but we left Baby K with my parents last Saturday and had a quick lunch at Culver's by ourselves and went to Sam's, because...

The Friday Five, 3/6/26: 5 things I've been up to this week

Well, the first week of March went by FAST, and I'm headed to Orlando on Sunday for work, for a candy convention.  The Outsiders at the Fisher Theatre, Detroit What I've been up to this week: Seeing The Outsiders at the Fisher. I didn't know much about The Outsiders going into it, except I believe I read the book back in high school, and it's also a movie (released in 1983) with a pretty A-list cast. I saw the musical on Wednesday, with a friend, which ended up being pretty fantastic, and I'd highly recommend it; it's a sad story but also very compelling. It'll be at the Fisher until March 15 . Seeing Bert Kreischer at the Fox.  About a month ago, I started watching a show called Free Bert  on Netflix. My husband saw me watching it and said, hey, that's the Machine ! (aka, he recognized him because Berk Kreischer is a real-life comic) I looked Bert up online and saw he would be at the Fox on the 2nd and 3rd stops of his new tour, and we were able to get ...

The Friday Five, 1/30/26: 5 things I've been up to this week

January went by super fast and super slow, all at once, somehow, and we are finally near the end. My husband and I took today off work to go to Frankenmuth for Snowfest, but between the cold weather and other things, it didn't happen ... instead we will do some local errands since we have the time.  Monty Python's Spamalot at the Fisher What I've been up to this week: Taking care of a sick child (still).  Last Wednesday, Baby K got sent home from daycare with a fever . We kept her out Thursday and Friday, and by Monday, she was a lot better—however, because of the weather and the snow, daycare decide to close, which left us in a bind since we both work. We ended up both working a half day and switching off childcare. She's a lot better now, though, which is good. Seeing Spamalot at the Fisher Theatre . Last night, a friend and I went to the Fisher to see Monty Python's Spamalot , which will be there for another few days. I am not a huge Monty Python fan but overall...

The Friday Five, 10/3/25: 5 things I've been up to this week

Image
This has been a busy week—my mother-in-law is visiting and helping us with the baby, so because of that, I have been able to be more active than I would have been otherwise, including seeing a show at the Fisher! What I've been up to this week: Seeing Beauty and the Beast at the Fisher Theatre. I apparently missed my pitch email for this one and realized it was coming up so I messaged my contact. I got to see it last night with my mom, and it was a FABULOUS time—I last saw it in 2016 at the Fox , apparently, and I believe they've revamped it since then. A lot of people dressed up as Belle or the Beast last night, too, including kids, which was a lot of fun. It's at the Fisher until October 12th and I highly recommend it—you can find more info here at its website . Playdate for Baby K. Baby K had her first playdate, technically, last Saturday, when an old friend of mine came over with her baby boy, who was born in May. There were no meltdowns until the end, when we tried to ...
