Yes/No Detroit

This week has been super busy, as I've basically had two back-to-back trips: we went to Frankenmuth Saturday through Sunday, and then Monday through Wednesday I was in Chicago for a work trip, for the Sweets & Snacks Expo.  My new Nerds friend and I What I've been up to this week: Overnight trip to Frankenmuth . My boyfriend and I headed to the Frankenmuth beer festival for the second year in a row, and I had booked a room at the Hampton Inn in Birch Run, also for the second year in a row, since I had Hilton points. The beer expo is always a fun time—each person gets six tickets, aka six tastings, and you can buy three more for $5, too, which we also did. The Cheese Haus's food truck and others are on-site too, so we had cheese curds and fried pickles, as well. That night, we headed to Zehnder's for dinner, one of my favorites, and the next day we went to Prost, another favorite, for lunch. This was a super busy week, and the weekend should be fun, too: I'm having lunch with a friend and her family on Saturday, and then dinner will be with one of my boyfriend's coworkers and his wife.  Marley Spoon steak with compound butter, mashed potatoes, and string beans What I've been up to this week: One day/night in Frankenmuth . I was invited by Bavarian Inn Lodge to stay overnight, which my boyfriend and I did this past Friday, and it was a lot of fun—you can read the review here . I'm a big fan of Frankenmuth, as it's an easy hour-long drive from the Metro Detroit area, and there is always plenty of cheese (Cheese Haus), fudge (Frankenmuth Fudge Kitchen), and all-you-can-eat (AYCE) chicken dinners (Bavarian Inn or Zehnder's) to eat. The Lodge ended up being fun too, as they have four pools, three whirlpools, mini golf, and a Family Fun Center, so I'd recommend it.  Cooking . This past Friday, I had the pleasure of staying at the Bavarian Inn Lodge , in Frankenmuth, Michigan, for one night. I've been to Frankenmuth many times, and even stayed overnight in the neighboring Birch Run, but I had never stayed directly in the city before, so I was excited to stay at the Lodge. Friday was a rainy day, but we didn't let that stop us from having fun. We stopped at Halo Burger, in Birch Run, for lunch—there used to be locations in Novi and Troy, but both closed, and their food is very good—and then hit up Bronner's Christmas Wonderland, which is the largest Christmas store in the world.  For those who are unfamiliar with Frankenmuth , it is a German/Bavaria-themed town, about an hour north of the Metro Detroit area, nicknamed "Michigan's Little Bavaria." If you follow me on Instagram , you already know that I'm a fan of Frankenmuth—I try to go at least once a year, and I think last year I went two or three times, for my free birthday chicken dinner and for its Beer Fest in May. I recently went for Snowfest at the end of January this year, too. One of the places I stop by is the Bavarian Inn, which has both a restaurant and lodge. I have never actually stayed at the lodge but I'm looking forward to it later this year.  If you're a fan of fried chicken, you will definitely want to stop by the restaurant, which features all-you-can-eat chicken dinner and sides.
