Now open: MOD Pizza in Rochester Hills serves up tasty eats and local flair

*Disclosure: I attended a media/friends and family event at the new MOD Pizza this past week, in exchange for this post. The opinions expressed here, however, are my own.

The new MOD Pizza is officially open today, November 14th, in Rochester Hills, and its residents are in for a treat: not only is the food great (which isn't surprising!), but the restaurant itself is very welcoming and area-themed.

MOD has put some great Rochester Hills touches on the new restaurant. This was my second time visiting a MOD Pizza, the first one being its Northville location, in August, which also had area-specific touches. One of the first things you'll notice when you wait in line to order, here, is the huge ROCHESTER HILLS sign, to the right of the cash register; it's definitely location-specific!

When you walk in, you'll also immediately notice the large photo wall to the left - it definitely made the restaurant feel more friendly/homey, and the pictures seemed to be of people enjoying their MOD pizzas and creations. The staff at this location is super friendly, as well - whenever people entered the restaurant, they would yell out a cheery "Hello!" to them.

The food, of course, was just as good at this location as its Northville one. You can choose from a pre-set combination (there are about 8-10 to choose from, as well as a seasonal one that rotates), or you can choose your own toppings.

Last time I chose from one of the pre-set ones so this time I made my own, with gluten-free crust ($2 more), mushrooms, pepperoni, grilled chicken, red peppers, and a pesto finish.

The pizza is always delicious here, but the real hit of our table was actually the milkshakes - they're ridiculously delicious. I ordered a plain vanilla one, which I later regretted, because my mom ordered a vanilla one with two mix-ins, Oreo crumbles and cookie dough (mix-ins are free, too), and hers was delicious; mine was good too, but the mix-ins really added a lot of flavor.

I highly recommend the cinnamon breadsticks too, with your choice of dipping sauce - we love the cinnamon dipping sauce. I had the garlic and rosemary breadsticks again too, with a sweet pesto dipping sauce, which were also good, but I have a major sweet tooth so I LOVED the cinnamon sticks.

Don't forget that TODAY (Nov. 14) is Pay What You Want Day at the new MOD Pizza, with proceeds going to the Rochester Community School Foundation. The event goes through dinner service and there will be raffles throughout the day, as well as the chance to win one free pizza per week for a year!

The new MOD Pizza is located at 3058 S. Rochester Road, at the corner of Rochester Rd. and Auburn.
