Why you need a smartphone in 2016 {& a giveaway!}

*This is a Fashionista Event and a promotional item was provided to me. Hosts for this event are Still Blonde after all these Years and ModlyChic.

I actually didn't buy my first smartphone until early 2011. Before that, I actually kind of liked waiting to get home all day to check my email, or waiting until after a movie screening to get home and check it; now, in 2016, I can't imagine doing that! So many things happen all day long that I need to know about, and my smartphone is ideal for checking email, browsing Facebook, and even getting the weather for the week.

I'm also a millennial, and that means I do everything online. Banking? Done. Paying a bill? Done. Buying a phone and activating it? That used to mean I had to head to Verizon but now, you can even do that online too!

My dad got his first smartphone this year, and he loves it - previously, he had a flip phone, and the sound quality was awful; it was hard to understand him. I was very glad when he switched to his "new" phone, as now the sound quality is much better.

Verizon is now making it super easy to order a new smartphone or tablet, add a service line, and become a new Verizon customer - and the best part is, you can do this all online, and skip the lines at the store!

They're also doing a deal for when you purchase a new device - you can save $50 on certain smartphones*! Just use coupon code COUPONVZW.

If you're like me, you're probably going to do a lot of research before purchasing a smartphone, too - whether it's your very first smartphone, or maybe even your 10th. I've been a Verizon customer for many years now, and I love their call quality and also their 4G LTE service; it's no surprise, then, that RootMetrics® rates Verizon #1 in speed, data, reliability and overall performance in the U.S.

I'm also an Android girl, even though I love my iPad Mini and now my MacBook Pro, and Verizon has a "hidden offer" (aka super secret!) going on right now: if you buy a Droid Turbo 2 phone, you receive a free Qi Wireless Charger. I bought myself a wireless charger when I got a new smartphone last year, and I love it - it's super easy to put my phone on the cradle before I go to sleep, and wake up with 100% battery!

(just remember to purchase the monthly device payment, not the full retail price, to get your free charger; the offer expires 2/25)

What smartphone is your favorite that Verizon offers? Are you an Android user or more of an iPhone fan? (or perhaps even a Windows phone user?)
