The Friday Five, 11/24/17: 5 things I've been up to this week

I only worked about two and a half days this week, which was nice—I got yesterday and today off for the Thanksgiving holiday, and on Wednesday not much was going on. I'm enjoying spending time with my parents and on Saturday we will be seeing The Wizard of Oz downtown, at the Fox.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Reviewing cars. On Wednesday morning, I received the 2017 Hyundai Tucson Night AWD to review, and I have it until next Thursday morning. So far it's a zippy ride, and I'm liking it a lot.
  2. Seeing movies, per usual. I saw a screening of The Disaster Artist on Monday, and then yesterday my parents and I saw Roman J. Israel, Esq. I love Denzel movies but I'd give this one a 3 or maybe a 3.5/5 stars—it's very slow but both he and Colin Farrell give great performances in it. I might also see Coco again today with my mom.
  3. Attending a concert at Little Caesars Arena for the first time. Two friends and I went to see Halsey on Tuesday, and we got a great deal through Groupon—it was $40 per ticket, and then about $37 because Groupon was doing a percentage off, that week. We had lower bowl seats which were comfortable, but I've heard the upper bowl seats are very small.
  4. Seeing turkeys on the street. I was at my parents' place last week too and ran across about 5 to 7 turkeys hanging out in the street, which was funny. Yesterday (on actual Thanksgiving) we saw them yet again! I'm not sure where they are coming from but it's pretty random to encounter them "in the wild" ... I don't think I had ever seen a live turkey before that.
  5. Trying new restaurants/food trucks. My mom and I tried out Alchile, in the West Bloomfield area, on Wednesday night, as I had a LocalFlavor.com deal to use. At Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday, friends and I had tacos from the Market area, and on Sunday, my boyfriend and I tried out a pretty authentic taco truck in Detroit, which also had horchata (SO tasty). So I've been eating a lot of tacos this week, basically, but all were delicious (with some being more authentic than others).
Last Saturday, I also had brunch with a coworker friend at Rochester Brunch House, though I have been there before. They have fantastic sweet desserts breakfasts but I opted to be a little healthier, and I did the "make your own bowl" with potatoes, bacon, onions, and mushrooms, with toast on the side.
"Haha, we've escaped Thanksgiving!"
