Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse (Troy, MI), a great place for foodies and meat-lovers

*Disclosure: I was provided with a complimentary meal at Fogo de Chao in exchange for this blog post. The opinions expressed here, however, are my own.

I initially reviewed the new Fogo de Chão, in Troy, MI, back in November when it first opened, so I was excited to be invited back recently to try it out again.

This time, instead of going with my parents, I attended with four other bloggers, and we were seated at a table right next to the chef's window, which was fun.

For my drink, I had the Strawberry Caipirinha - last time, I had the original Caipirinha flavor. The Strawberry Hibiscus Caipirinha is hibiscus-infused and comes with cachaca, muddle strawberries and lime. I'll confess I liked the original flavor better, but this drink was good as well.

We were again treated to the full churrasco experience ($48.95 for dinner, $34.95 for lunch) which includes the Market Bar and its surrounding tables. I knew from my previous experience to eat light at the Market Bar (more room for meats!) but I can't get enough of their bacon bar, roasted peppers, and fresh mozzarella ... it was hard to stop at just one plate.

The red circle in the picture above is what you use when you start your meats experience, by the way: red means "no thanks" and green means "yes, please." This way the servers know if they should stop by your table or not.

Since I already wrote a review of Fogo back in November, I'm going to focus this post more on my favorites from the night and also whether the $48.95 price tag is worth it or not, since a few friends have asked me that.

When the meat servers come to your table, they will tell you what kind of meat they have. The meats range from lamb, to chicken, to steak, for the most part, and there were even some pork ribs too. You'll be given small tongs, and most of the time, the servers will cut you a slice of meat that you then grab with the tongs; when the pieces are bigger, sometimes they will put the pieces onto your plate directly.

You'll also be given three side dishes - pictured above are the mashed potatoes, fried bananas/plantains, and fried polenta. The fried bananas are my favorite, and they can also be used as a "palate cleanser," according to our waitress.

If you're doing the full churrasco experience, everything is unlimited ... I *may* have gone back to the Market Bar and grabbed a few more slices of their brown sugar and black pepper bacon, as it's delicious and definitely addicting.

If you'd rather have smaller portions, you can opt for the Brazilian Cuts ($42) which includes only Fogo's most popular cuts of meats, as well as the Market Bar. You could also choose Select Cuts ($29-32) or just the Market Table and Feijoada Bar ($26.95).

Personally, I'd say if you are going to go to Fogo de Chão, spring for the full experience ($48.95) - that way you can try any and all of the meats that you choose. A few people have asked me if the price is worth it, and I'm going to go ahead and say yes, it is, based on the amount of food that they offer and also the quality of the meats.

When I visited Fogo yesterday, there were also a surprising amount of families there - however, the full churrasco experience for children 6 and under is free, and it's half-price for ages 7 to 12. I also saw a few groups of friends and even people dining by themselves. I'm hoping to go back to Fogo for a special occasion, perhaps for Valentine's Day or for a birthday, at some point.
