The Friday Five, 11/23/18: 5 things I've been up to this week

Lots of stuff going on this week. I had yesterday and today off work, as well, which is a nice break, and I enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with my parents, which is our tradition.

Marvel Universe Live at Little Caesars Arena, Detroit

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Hanging out with friends. On Saturday, one of my friends threw a cookie party (more like a cookie "get-together" because there were only a few of us), and we used her new Kitchen-Aid mixer to make all sorts of cookies. It was very tasty, to say the least, and I found a Rolo cookies recipe off of Pinterest that we made, too. On Sunday, three friends and I went to Marvel Universe Live, in Detroit (at LCA), which was fun, and afterwards we checked out the new Bucharest Grill location downtown.
  2. Seeing movies, of course. I recently canceled MoviePass (RIP ...) and joined AMC A-List, where you can see 3 movies per week, and even 3D and IMAX movies. My boyfriend and I tested it out on Tuesday and saw Creed II, which was good—I'd give it 3.5/5 stars, and he gave it 4/5 stars. Today I'm seeing Widows with my parents, and tomorrow I'll be seeing The Grinch, too. I also saw Boy Erased with a friend on Monday night, with one of my last MoviePasses, and that was excellent; I'd give it 4/5 stars.
  3. Eating out. On Tuesday, my boyfriend and I went to Polish Village before we saw Creed II. It was only my second time there, but I love their dill pickle soup, pierogies, and potato pancakes. On Wednesday, I met up with an old friend at Sy Thai, in Birmingham, and today my parents and I plan on going to Blaze Pizza before we see Widows
  4. Spending time with my family. My parents live in Walled Lake, which is ~ a 40-minute drive from me, and sometimes I don't get to see them that often; so, it's nice that we can get together during Thanksgiving weekend.
  5. Getting a CT scan. Last Friday, I had to go to Beaumont Royal Oak for a CT scan—my doctor just wanted to make sure that he's on the right course of action for me, without getting into details. The CT scan itself is fine but you have to drink these gross-tasting drinks beforehand—three of them, actually—so that they can see inside your stomach, for the most part. Let's just say it was not pleasant.
