The Friday Five, 6/7/19: 5 things I've been up to this week

This week has been hard on my body ... I got off the plane from Bangkok (technically, South Korea) at 10:30am last Saturday and got on a plane for New Orleans at 8:30am Monday, for IFT, which is a work conference that I go to every year.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Traveling. I left for New Orleans on Monday and I was there until Wednesday. I was pretty sick on Monday ... I had a fever of like 103.4 when I left for the airport, which was terrible. I also got sick on the plane which has never happened to me before. Tuesday I felt a tiny bit better, but Wednesday was the first day I started to feel more "normal." I did have like one good meal while there, and also got beignets at Cafe du Monde, which are delicious.
  2. Cooking. I received a Hello Fresh box yesterday and cooked apricot pork with a zucchini and potatoes jumble, which was tasty. I'll probably cook the other recipes Saturday and then either today or Monday, they include a ravioli with a gratin crust and marinated pork tacos.
  3. Seeing movies, maybe? I'm going to go see Booksmart today before it leaves my local theater, they only have one showing of it per day now. I'm also going to finally see Rocketman tomorrow, which I've heard great things about.
  4. Eating out. On the first night in New Orleans, myself and six coworkers went to the Marigny Brasserie, which was pretty tasty; I had a steak with candied Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes, and we also shared some gigantic fried green tomatoes. My other meals in NOLA were hit or miss, mostly including conference center + airport food, although the conference itself had some tasty snacks too (it's a food and beverage show). Last Sunday, my boyfriend and I went to La Saj, in Troy, which has really good chicken kabob sandwiches, as well as complimentary bread and garlic.
  5. Trying to get some sleep. My body has no idea what time zone it's on anymore (it went from Bangkok time, which is 11 hours ahead of Detroit, to Central time, which is 1 hour behind Detroit, back to Eastern time) so I've just been trying to get on a consistent sleep schedule. Yesterday was the first day I got through the day without a nap, which was harder than it sounds.
