REVIEW and GIVEAWAY: Allegiant Nonstop game center (Warren, MI) is fun for the whole family

REVIEW: Allegiant Nonstop game center, Warren, MI
*Disclosure: I received admission to some of the attractions at Allegiant Nonstop as well as dinner in exchange for this blog post. The opinions expressed here, however, are my own.

This Tuesday, I was able to stop by the new Allegiant Nonstop (or "Nonstop," as most people seem to call it) in Warren, MI, and it was a fun date night out. This place would also be good for birthday parties or a friends night out, and they even have party rooms and "party bays" for all of your special occasion needs.

I would compare Allegiant Nonstop to Dave & Busters or, in the Detroit area, C.J. Barrymore's, except it's more technologically-advanced: you get a card that you then tap to reload or tap to go on / play at any of the attractions.

My boyfriend and I each had a card good for four attractions. Unfortunately, I didn't know that you had to wear closed-toed shoes to do the bumper cars or the go-karts, as well as rock climbing, so those weren't a possibility, on this visit. We decided to do one of the VR "rides," mini golf, and laser tag; we planned on going on the other VR ride, too, but ended up not doing it (I'll elaborate on why later in this blog post ...).

You can do any of the attractions a la carte, as you see above, or you can get a package. The best deal right now is the All-Day Play Pass, which is only available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. It's $25 and you get admission to any of the attractions you like, except the escape room, bowling, and arcade games. {ie: you could do laser tag, bumper cars, the VR rides, etc., as many times as you wanted}

They also have a 50% off arcade games deal, from 5-9pm on Thursdays. Excludes crane, redemption and merchandiser games.

We started off with one of the VR rides, and I was highly impressed by it. You wear VR glasses while on the ride, and it's like you are IN one of the Fast & the Furious movies ... the ride tilts sideways and it's almost like you're on a Cedar Point ride! Needless to say, I loved it.

After that, we decided to do Laser Tag. Each game lasts about 7 to 8 minutes, and they show you an instructional video before you enter the laser tag room. I've played laser tag before and this was similar to my previous experiences, and a lot of fun. The theme is the zombie apocalypse, also.

To cap off our attractions, we did Mini Golf. There are two different courses to choose from, and each is a bit smaller than your usual 18-hole mini golf; each one had 9 holes of golf. It was fun but a little hard to see, since the area is a "black light" area.

We were going to go on the other VR ride, but ended up skipping it since the line was long, and it can only fit four people at once. Later, we were watching it and realized it actually goes upside-down, so perhaps that was a good thing that we didn't go on it directly after eating dinner!

We were comped a large pizza and two soft drinks, and it was nice to be able to sit down after being on the go for about two hours, at that point. We ordered a mushroom pizza, and root beer and Cherry Coke. Large cheese pizzas are $15 (toppings are extra) and drinks are about $3. They also have snacks like mozzarella sticks, Bosco sticks, pretzels, and churros.

After the pizza, we didn't think we'd do well on the second VR ride, so instead we spent about $5 each and did some of the arcade games; I love arcade games, and Allegiant Nonstop has a TON of them.

Once you have your card, you can find any machine and tap it to either add money or re-add.

All of the games are priced a la carte, and ranged from about 50 cents (air hockey ... 50 cents per player) to $3.00, as far as I could see. If you win any tickets (which you can then exchange for prizes), the tickets will be added to your card, too; I was a little disappointed by this, because I miss the days of carrying around all of your tickets and seeing them streaming out of the machines if you're a winner. However, I will admit that it was definitely more convenient just to keep your "points" on your card.

For parents, Allegiant Nonstop has a lot of perks. There is a toddler area (as seen above), and I believe it's $10 for all-day play, just for that attraction. There's also a "Quiet Room" if you need a break from the hecticness of the arcade, and a Lactation Room for breastfeeding mothers, according to Good Life Detroit, who also visited Nonstop.

Even as a 30-something, this place would be great for a birthday party—in fact, I messaged a friend after I got home on Tuesday to tell her about it, since she has been searching for a venue to host some friends for her birthday this year. I read that they also host corporate events, "team building" events, and social gatherings; you can read more about that here.

I couldn't find any info online about this, but if you're an Allegiant flight attendant, I believe you get free or discounted passes for yourself and family/friends, too - when we were there, a flight attendant was in line ahead of us and was able to take advantage of that.

I forgot to mention that (similar to Dave & Buster's) there is also a bar for those 21+. There was a snack bar too, but it didn't seem to be open - you can grab food at the Cafe instead.

Next time I go, I will definitely be wearing closed-toed shoes, as I want to try out the bumper cars and go-karts. Also, if you sign up for their e-club online, you can get $10 in free arcade play, which I wish I had known about beforehand! I signed up Tuesday night and received my coupon via email a few minutes later.

I'd also recommend wearing closed-toed shoes for laser tag, as there is a second floor with a ramp that was a little difficult to walk up wearing sandals. Ladies: I'd recommend bringing a fanny pack or not bringing a purse, I had a small purse with me but laser tag was a little difficult wearing it, and I imagine go-karting might be too. I saw one woman wearing a fanny pack, and that was a smart idea.

Overall, I would definitely recommend Allegiant Nonstop, either for a date night, a night out with your kids, or as a friends night out. If I am going by Yelp standards, I'd probably give it 3.5 or 4 stars out of 5, because I had a fun time there but there is always room for improvement, too.
