The Friday Five, 8/23/19: 5 things I've been up to this week

Per usual, I've been eating out a lot and running around a lot this past week, although the week itself wasn't too busy. Today I'm heading out to Traverse City with friends, which I'm excited about because I haven't been there in about 18 years ... my parents and I went in either 2001 or 2002, I believe.

What I've been up to this week:
      1. Troy Restaurant Week. This is ongoing until tonight, actually, so you still have time to grab lunch or dinner, if you missed it - you can find the menus here. This go-round I went to Sedona Taphouse for dinner, with Yelp friends, which was tasty; Loccinos for lunch with a friend, which was good; and Capital Grille with coworker friends for lunch, which was good but unfortunately the steak salad portion was very tiny (I'm typing this on Thursday, a few hours after lunch, and am already hungry again....). TRW does fixed lunch and dinner menus for about $8-20, for lunch, and $25-40, for dinner, and is always a great deal.
      2. Eating out, beside TRW. On Friday, my boyfriend and I went to Kuhnhenn Brewing, in Warren, for the Pietryzk Pierogi pop-up. We had their pierogies at Urbanrest Brewing, in Ferndale, at another pop-up, and they were very good. I also had a wine flight, which was excellent. Pietryzk has a Kickstarter going right now and they are super close to their goal, so you should check it out if you are able to donate - it ends TODAY, August 23rd. On Saturday, I went to Ann Arbor to go to the Milan Beach with a friend, and we had Frita Batidos for dinner, which is one of my favorite A2 restaurants ... their garlic cilantro fries are delicious.
      3. Movies, of course. There were four movies I wanted to see this week so I used up an Emagine freebie ticket (a holdover from my MoviePass days!). Last Friday I saw The Kitchen, which I'd give 3/5; on Sunday, I went to Emagine Royal Oak to see The Art of Racing in the Rain, which I'd give 4/5, although it's a bit "Hallmark-y," as a friend put it; on Monday, I saw Where'd You Go, Bernadette, which I'd give 3.5/5; and on Wednesday, we saw Good Boys, which was rather funny but I'd still give 3/5 - I recommend it for a matinee or Blu-ray viewing.
      4. Rescheduling things. I got invited to go on a pecan trip for work, but it is in October when I had a medical procedure scheduled (something routine, but that I unfortunately have to do every two years), so I had to reschedule that. But now I'll be checking out Austin in October, which should be a lot of fun, as I have not yet been.
      5. Cooking. I ordered an EveryPlate box last week, and also one this week. EveryPlate is Hello Fresh's cheaper cousin (Hello Fresh owns them), and it's normally $38.99/week, but they were offering me a special pricing of $28.99 for three weeks. Their meals are just as good as Hello Fresh's, in my opinion, although the recipe cards are half-sized compared to HF's.
