The Friday Five, 4/12/19: 5 things I've been up to this week

Another busy week, with lots of movies and food and cooking. I've been feeling a little bit better but not a ton; still taking a lot of naps.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Eating out. I recently joined an app where you can be a "mystery shopper," and we went to Gus's Fried Chicken in Detroit last Friday for that. On Saturday, some friends and I did a tour of Atwater Brewery, in Detroit, and also had some delicious appetizers there and beer ... I don't normally like beer but I did like some of theirs. On Sunday, my parents and I tried out Taipei 101, in Novi, although it was just okay; on Tuesday, I went to Seasons 52 with my mom, for a blogger tasting, which was tasty; and on Wednesday, my International Dinner Club and I tried out Culantro, in Ferndale, for the first time, which was also very tasty.
  2. Putting up giveaways on the site. Both are for my Detroit-area followers, and both are for the same date, so choose one ... on Tuesday, April 30th, you can see a screening of The Intruder at MJR Troy, OR you could try to win a 4-pack to see Derek Hough, at the Fox, which is the event I'll be attending. I recommend entering both, since there will be 25 Intruder winners but only one Derek winner :).
  3. Finishing up pills. I FINALLY finished my antibiotics this morning ... hooray, kind of. I am not sure if it helped with the fevers, but I am glad to be done with them, as they were a major PITA and had lots of rules (supposed to NOT take with pills, can't have dairy two hours before or after, etc.).
  4. Seeing movies. I saw Shazam in 3D last weekend, and it was a lot funnier than I thought it would be. Today I am seeing Little, and next week I am hoping to see The Mustang, before it leaves theaters, and maybe The Aftermath, though I have to trek to the Forum for that (~20-25 minute drive for me, vs. 10 minutes to AMC John R).
  5. Being Type A about my Cinetopia Film Fest schedule. The schedule is now out, as of Tuesday, and I spent about 1-2 hours trying to put together a tentative schedule for myself. I'm pretty excited as it looks like there are some great movies, and I will go to Ann Arbor for the first weekend and then see movies at Cinetopia's newest venue, Emagine Royal Oak, the second week + weekend ... that's about a 10-minute drive for me too which is awesome. Other venues include the Maple Theater and Cinema Detroit, and I believe one or two movies in Dearborn, too.
