The Friday Five, 4/9/21: 5 things I've been up to this week

Last weekend was kind of a blur, and I'll tell you more about that below. Other than that, this week I have not been doing much ... I haven't left the house since Tuesday, but I have a B12 shot today and bloodwork, so I have to drive to Farmington for that. I've been doing weekly B12 shots but I'm hoping it can go back to monthly after this week's.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Watching new shows/movies. I opened up HBO Max yesterday with the intention of watching that new-ish Mark Ruffalo show, but instead they advertised a show called Made for Love. I started it and it's kind of dystopian-ish and weird, which are exactly the types of shows I like ... Cristin Milioti (Palm Springs, A to Z, a short-lived show which I also liked) is in it and she plays the wife of a tech billionaire (last name "Gogol" ... haha ...) who ended up implanting a chip in her head. Now she's fled the marriage and taken refuge at her dad's house (Ray Romano). There are six episodes up so far and I binged them all last night. I also tried out Yes Day, with Jennifer Garner, on Netflix, and it was just okay; I'd give it 2.5/5 stars, it was a bit too cheesy for me.
  2. Getting my vaccine. I haven't really been advertising this, but I just got my second dose of Moderna on Friday. After the first dose, my arm hurt a lot, for like 1.5 days. After this second dose, my arm hurt a lot again, as expected; however, Saturday night I began to experience extreme fatigue. Sunday was the same, and also Monday ... I tried working but quickly realized I needed more sleep, and I slept from like 12:30-3pm that day. Tuesday morning I woke up and felt 90% better. Would I get the vaccine again if needed? Absolutely: the alternative (getting COVID) would be much, much worse.
  3. Getting takeout/eating out/cooking. On Saturday, my boyfriend came over, since I wasn't feeling great, and got us Main St. Kitchen takeout—MSK is my favorite nearby Indian restaurant. On Tuesday, since the weather was nice and I was feeling much better, we wanted to go to Sedona Taphouse in Troy to their rooftop seating area ... however, even though they told us it was open, on the phone, we arrived and it was not. We ended up at Kona Grill for their happy hour—technically sat inside, but all of the floor-to-ceiling windows were open, and we sat right next to one, so it was more outside than in. They do a great happy hour and I actually haven't had sushi in a YEAR, so we got some sushi and also drinks, and their avocado egg rolls—not quite as good as Cheesecake Factory's, but pretty tasty. I also received HelloFresh this week (and will be for like all of April—thank you for the free boxes, HF!) and cooked the meal you see above, which was one of their "upcharge"/gourmet meals so I did pay for it, as well as a few other tasty ones.
  4. Making more vaccine appointments. Friends and family have been asking me to help, and yesterday I booked my first two Illinois (Chicago area) appointments. I couldn't find any at CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Sam's Club, or Jewel-Osco, but I struck gold at Mariano's, which is owned by Kroger—they had a TON of appointments. As of now, I've made appointments in California, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Ohio, and Washington state!
  5. Receiving vaccine appointment gifts. To be clear, I don't make these appointments because of these, and I don't expect anything if you ask me to make an appointment. However, sometimes people send me things because of it :) a friend sent the Crane's pie you see below, which is fantastic because Crane's (Fennville, MI) has my all-time favorite blueberry pies. The pie is frozen so I will have to put it in the oven at some point. Another person sent me a Kroger gift card, and a friend's mom sent me an Amazon gift card, too. These are always "out of the blue"—never expected, at all, but I always appreciate them!
