The Friday Five, 10/1/21: 5 things I've been up to this week

Welcome to October! That happened fast. This past week I was in Vegas for PACK EXPO, a work event, and I got home Wednesday night around 11pm, and then it was back to work on Thursday morning.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Traveling to Vegas. I left Sunday and got back on Wednesday night, so I'm still adjusting back to Eastern time which has been a PITA to say the least. On Sunday, I ended up meeting a Yelp friend who was also in town, and we had dinner at Giordano's, near Bally's, and went to Bellagio to see the fountain show and also the new conservatory exhibit, both of which are some of my favorite things to do in Vegas. The expo was Monday through Wednesday; on Monday night, I was on my own for dinner, so I did In-N-Out (my favorite burger in the U.S.) and walked around a bit. On Tuesday night, I met my friend Sydney, who lives in Vegas, and we did unlimited Korean BBQ, which is always delicious. After that I was also able to stop by Milk Bar, at Cosmopolitan, to pick up some treats, and I also gambled a little at Paris.
  2. Watching movies. On the plane, I was FINALLY able to watch Minari, as they had it as an in-flight selection—I had been wanting to see that for a while, and I'd give it maybe 3.5 or 4 stars out of 5. Last Saturday, I went to see Dear Evan Hansen, which was very good albeit sad; I would give it 4/5 stars. Tonight I'm seeing The Eyes of Tammy Faye, and on Sunday I have a ticket for The Addams Family 2, although I may cancel if I'm too tired.
  3. Schitt's Creek trivia. Last Friday, myself and two friends went to B. Nektar for Schitt's Creek trivia, which was a lot of fun; people were encouraged to dress up too, and my friend and I both wore Rose Apothecary shirts. We ended up placing 9th out of 19 teams, which wasn't too shabby, although it was mostly thanks to the Schitt's Creek knowledge of my friend and her husband! B. Nektar's drinks are always tasty too, they mostly sell cider and mead.
  4. Cooking. Last week I had Marley Spoon, which we JUST finished cooking yesterday—we cooked an Indian butter chicken meal with cauliflower rice—and this week is Blue Apron. The sauce for the butter chicken was delicious, but the cauliflower rice was just okay—it might have been because I froze it before Vegas, and then unfroze it Wednesday night, but it tasted kinda watery ... Google did tell me it was fine to freeze cauliflower rice, though.
  5. Watching TV shows. I finished the season finale of The Circle on the plane home on Wednesday—Netflix lets you download shows, which is nice—and I was surprised at who won, although I did think that they had played the game well. I've also been continuing to watch American Crime Story: Impeachment, Only Murders in the Building, and Doogie Kamealoha, M.D., although I need to watch this week's episode. I also started a (new to me) show on Hulu called Alone Together which I am really liking—it's about a guy and a girl who are best friends (but who don't want to date each other) and their lives in Los Angeles.
