BAFTA nominees announced today

The BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) nominees were announced today, according to their website.

And the nominees for the major awards are:

~I haven't seen any of these but have heard good things about Banksy's "Exit Through the Gift Shop."

~Another two sneak in - Noomi Rapace and Hailee Steinfeld. Steinfeld was great but I think Portman still has a lock on this category.

-Mark Ruffalo - The Kids are All Right

Supporting Actress:

~Looks like Melissa Leo (for The Fighter) was snubbed, but I was happy to see Barbara Hershey nominated for her role as Portman's mother in Black Swan.

Orange Wednesdays Rising Award**:
-Gemma Arterton
-Andrew Garfield
-Tom Hardy
-Aaron Johnson
-Emma Stone

~I like a lot of these young actors but I have a feeling Garfield will win this, especially since he's British and this is the only award that the public themselves vote on.

*Posthumous nomination
**This is the only award voted on by the public. It is an award that "recognize[s] five international actors and actresses whose talent has captured the imagination of the British public."

Overall, some interesting and new choices, deviating from the nominees of the CCAs and Golden Globes. It should be interesting to see if the winners follow those of the CCAs/Golden Globes as well, or if the Brits have their own favorites - also if "True Grit" wins any awards, since they were shut out at the Golden Globes, though they have three major category nominations here.
