I'm a big Star Wars fan, but this actually didn't start until college, when I binge-watched the entire series (in chronological order, of course: IV, V, VI, I, II, III) during spring break of my freshman year. As a movie buff, not having seen any of the Star Wars series was a serious offense in my book, and I felt that I owed it to myself to watch them.

When the new Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion DVD was released, I was curious to see how closely it would relate to the movies. It takes place 14 years after Episode III and 5 years before Episode 4, and features a band of rebels who find themselves on board a starship called Ghost. Star Wars Rebels is also going to be a Disney Channel TV series, starting October 13th, and the movie is the "prequel" of sorts to the series.

I headed to Walmart to find the DVD, and it was easy to find in their Electronics section, on an endcap display; the DVD will be available until October 13th. I then wandered over to the Toys section to see if they had any toys to go with the release of Star Wars Rebels - that plus the DVD would make a great gift for kids or family this holiday season.

I ended up purchasing an Obi-Wan Kenobi action figure - he currently lives in my bookshelf, with my Lego Movie toys and some vintage 1990s-era McDonalds Halloween toys. I will say that out of all of them, he's the only one who has a lightsaber, though!

They had some other Star Wars toys that would make a great gift, especially with the holidays coming up. A few of the ones I noticed were the Rebels Millennium Falcon vehicle, the Star Wars Rebels Command Star Destroyer, and the Inquisitor lightsaber (because who WOULDN'T want a lightsaber for a gift?!).

My dad and I had a fun time watching Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion and comparing it to the other Star Wars movies we've seen. The film is animated, but looks very realistic, and it would be interesting to watch the TV show after seeing the movie, as well.

Have you heard of Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion? And if so, do you plan on watching the TV show on the Disney Channel too?
