This week was (per usual) busy, but didn't seem that busy for some reason. I only worked about 3.5 days so maybe that was why.

Royale with Cheese burger + garlic fries - the burger is topped with fondue! |
What I've been up to this week:
- Checking out new places. A friend and I went to Royale with Cheese (Detroit, Midtown area) and also Sugar House last Friday, and both were new places to me. My burger at Royale with Cheese was great; the fries were decent. Sugar House was definitely a standout: it has a prohibition-esque vibe (similar to The Oakland in Ferndale, or The Last Word in Ann Arbor) and was great, although the drinks are NOT cheap. My boyfriend and I also tried out Bistro 82 in Royal Oak on Saturday night, because I had a gift card, and that was very tasty too.
- Watched the Emmy's. The Emmy's aired on Sunday night and because I'm a sucker for entertainment award shows, I tuned in. I was happy to see HBO's Big Little Lies and Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale take home a lot of the big awards, too (and both are based on books, as well!).
- Getting ready for my weekend trip. We are headed to Kalamazoo (technically, Portage) to visit a college friend + her husband this weekend. I'm hoping to sneak in a Giordano's (Holland, MI) dinner too. I'll be driving a 2017 Toyota Highlander Hybrid for the week, which I'm excited about! (check back later for a blog post about my experience)
- Seeing movies, per usual. I saw mother! last Saturday using MoviePass, which even crazier than I thought it would be, ha. It's probably one I wouldn't have seen if I didn't have MoviePass. I recommend it; however, do some internet sleuthing after the film to figure out what it's about—a blogger friend explained the significance of certain scenes to me, and then the movie made a lot more sense. I also saw a screening of Victoria & Abdul on Wednesday - check back 10/6 for my review.
- I bought (another) pint of Jeni's - but only spent $3.14 this time. Remember those $8.99 Jeni's pints from last week? I was at Meijer in the ice cream aisle last weekend, and apparently they are discontinuing some of them, because the variety I bought, as well as a few others, were $3.14 (noooo! I pride myself on usually finding the best deals). I bought a pint of Cookies & Cream and it's pretty much the best ice cream ever. I'm not sure if all Meijer stores are doing that sale, but this was the Royal Oak, MI location.

But ... you were just $8.99 at Fresh Thyme ... |
