The Friday Five, 3/23/18: 5 things I've been up to this week

I haven't been getting enough sleep this week, and it's starting to show ... I could have gone to bed around 11:45pm yesterday (my regular time) but instead opted to watch more of Love season two on Netflix. Hopefully tonight and this weekend I'll be getting more sleep.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Watching TV shows. Love (season 2) is back on Netflix, and I just saw that Santa Clarita Diet, with Drew Barrymore, is back today too (also season 2) ... they didn't promote that very well since that was the first I had heard of it! Season 1 was gory but pretty funny.
  2. Seeing a show at the Fox. On Friday, a friend and I went to the Fox Theatre for Stomp, which I had seen before a few years ago too. I'll be honest and say it wasn't my favorite, but it's great for kids and some scenes were very cool.
  3. Attending Yelp events. On Tuesday, a friend and I went to the Madison Heights Outback for a Yelp event, which was fantastic—so much food and we all got $20 gift certificates to take home, too. On Wednesday, I was able to attend a Yelp event I had been waitlisted for, because I was the +1 for the friend I took to Outback as *my* +1 on Tuesday, and that one was at Basement Burger Bar in Detroit—and again was WAY more food than I was expecting! I got to meet some new (to me) Yelpers at that event too which was nice.
  4. Trying to plan for Indiana Comic Con. Next weekend I am going to Indianapolis for the first time, for the Indiana Comic Con, and they have a great line-up of events—I'm definitely planning on going to the Wallace Shaun, Matthew Lewis (aka Neville from Harry Potter!) and the David Harbour (Stranger Things) panels, and it seems like there are a lot of other activities going on too ... they will be screening Rocky Horror Picture Show and there will also be an improv group performing shows throughout the weekend. I'm excited to get out of town for a bit and I have some restaurants I want to check out too.
  5. Cooking. I made three Hello Fresh meals this week, and this weekend am planning to make another two. The three I made were balsamic burgers with cauliflower, steak caprese, and Lemony Cheese Tortelloni. My favorite of those three was the caprese, but the burgers were quite good too—almost restaurant quality—and I devoured the fried cauliflower that was the side dish. I liked the Tortelloni but didn't love it.
