The Friday Five, 4/6/18: 5 things I've been up to this week

Welcome to April, or "Third Winter" as a meme I saw recently called it. I'm writing this on Thursday and we are supposed to get 1-3 inches of snow overnight ... yay.

On the other hand, other than a snow squall while driving home, the weather in Indy was nice (about 40-55 degrees) when I visited last weekend. So that was enjoyable, at least.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Traveling. Last Friday through Sunday, my boyfriend and I journeyed to Indianapolis, for the Indiana Comic Con. I can't say that Indy has a lot of things to do, but the comic con was fun, and we also had a lot of good food while there, including steaks at the famous St. Elmo Steakhouse (yay for their Sunday dinner deal! $40 for a 3-course menu). We also checked out an arcade bar, which was interesting—it was free to play but they also serve drinks.
  2. Driving a 2017 Toyota Prius Prime Premium. I had to turn this in on Thursday, as my one-week "rental" was up, and I was very sad to see it go ... probably one of my favorite cars to review, thus far, with the best tech. Check back tomorrow for an in-depth review of it, but it was great to have for a 5-hour road trip.
  3. Seeing movie(s). I finally got to see Ready Player One on Tuesday, and I'd give it 4.5/5 stars—they definitely changed some stuff from the book, but overall the movie was very engaging. My parents and I will be seeing Chappaquiddick tomorrow, most likely, and my boyfriend and I were thinking of checking out Isle of Dogs on either Saturday or Sunday.
  4. Not eating out! I actually have been eating at home this entire week, though the streak will break tomorrow when I meet my parents for a movie and dinner, probably at either Noodles or Pei Wei. I received my first Gobble shipment yesterday and I cooked Italian braised beef with gemelli noodles, which was good though the sauce was a bit heavy, and I'm expecting a Hello Fresh delivery on Saturday, too—I got the Gobble shipment for $21 through a Facebook promotion (normal price: $71 per week) and Hello Fresh offered me half off a box ($30, instead of $60) so I decided to get one of those, too. Very tasty.
  5. Making molds of my teeth. Not just for fun ... ha. I will be doing a sponsored post with Smile Brilliant, a teeth-whitening system, and the first step is to make molds of your teeth. After that, you mail the molds back to them, and they create custom retainers for you, in which you then spread the whitening cream. My teeth have always been kind of a dull/mild yellow-ish color, so I'm excited to try this out ... I don't drink coffee and I drink minimal tea and soda, too, so I'm hoping this will work for me.
