The Friday Five, 3/1/19: 5 things I've been up to this week
This has been a busy week, and I am writing this post on a Thursday since I will be in Portage, MI today and tomorrow, by the time you read this, to visit some college friends. Next week I am going to Toledo for a short mini vacation as well.
What I've been up to this week:
What I've been up to this week:
- Visiting Ann Arbor. Last Friday through Saturday I went to Ann Arbor to visit a friend and go out for karaoke. On Saturday we went out to Aut Bar to celebrate her birthday, with a few of her others friends, too. Ann Arbor is always a fun time and I think I hadn't been back since September or October, actually; I usually try to go once every 1-2 months.
- Going out to eat. Definitely too much this week ... besides Ann Arbor, my boyfriend and I went to Shields on Saturday night, and on Sunday I went out to 24grille, at the Westin Detroit, with Yelpers for Detroit Restaurant Week. That meal was definitely disappointing, unfortunately, and also rather pricey. Monday night was Melting Pot with some friends, and Wednesday night was Bistro 82 in Royal Oak for their 5th anniversary celebration, which was a fantastic deal—the ENTIRE menu was $5. (I had $12 French onion soup dumplings, a $45 steak, and split a $9 dessert with my friend, and my total was $13 ...)
- Seeing The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical. On Wednesday night, after Bistro 82, a friend and I went downtown to the Fisher Theatre to see this show. I was super curious to see how they were going to adapt it—I've seen the movies and read the books, but a while back—and it was definitely ... interesting. I'd give it maybe 2.5 to 3 stars out of 5, but the visual effects were very cool. {and you can read my interview with James Rodriguez, one of the cast members, here.}
- Working on my taxes. I have an accountant, but getting all my info together for my taxes is one of the more stressful things (because, math ...) for me around this time of year ... and I consider myself to be pretty organized too. Because I technically have 2 jobs (my full-time job and this, my "blogging job") there are a LOT of forms that I need to put together for the accountant.
- Cooking and also not cooking. Last Sunday, we cooked a Dinnerly meal—I believe it was tabbouleh and meatballs, and was good although not particularly filling. I was SUPPOSED to receive a Plated box on Tuesday night and it never showed up ... very disappointing because I had been hoping to cook that night and also have the second portion for lunch on Wednesday. It finally showed up Wednesday morning, so I'll have to do some cooking this weekend instead.
Circ Bar, Ann Arbor. It's definitely come a long way from when it was Circus! |
