The Friday Five, 10/18/19: 5 things I've been up to this week

I have no more traveling this year (that I know of), except we are going to Holland for one night, next month, since I had some Radisson points to use. This week I've been seeing lots of movies and hanging out with friends.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Hanging out with friends. On Sunday, some friends and I went to Parmenter's, which is a cider mill in Northville, and then to the Northville Winery next door. Parmenter's had pretty good cider but Yates and Blake's have better donuts, in my opinion. At the winery, you can do a flight, and they have wine, hard cider, and beer, so I tried two hard ciders and one wine. I liked both hard ciders, the wine was just okay.
  2. Seeing movies. Lots of movies this week! Last Friday, we saw Jexi, which was actually pretty hilarious, albeit dumb ... I'd give it like 3.75 to 4 stars out of 5. Saturday was The Addams Family, in 3D, but unfortunately I'd only give it like 2.5 stars - the live-action movies from the 1990s are much better. On Tuesday, I saw a screening of Zombieland: Double Tap (read my review here), which was great, and tonight I am tentatively seeing Maleficent, in 3D, assuming AMC John R is open ... it was closed for two days due to a gas leak. Going to see Gemini Man tomorrow, as well, even though it has terrible reviews.
  3. Watching El Camino, on Netflix. I'll be honest and say I was pretty tired and fell asleep for a good chunk of it. That being said, it was really slow and not my favorite. I was a HUGE Breaking Bad fan, but a late convert - I started watching it on Netflix a few years after it ended. That being said, I know a lot of people enjoyed it, because it showed what happened to Jesse Pinkman after the Breaking Bad ending, and that had always been kind of up in the air.
  4. Eating out. We wanted to go to Sedona Taphouse in Troy for happy hour last Friday but they had an hour wait, so we ended up trying The Great Greek, also in Troy, which was pretty tasty - see below for a pic of their feta fries. I had a chicken gyro and my boyfriend had a lamb gyro, too. On Sunday, I tried out Bricks, in Northville, with friends, after the cider mill run, and their pizza was pretty good. On Tuesday, my parents and I went to Jolly Pumpkin in Royal Oak before the Zombieland: Double Tap screening, since I had won a gift card, and their pizza was also good.
  5. Getting an oil change. I had been putting this off for a while and my car kept beeping at me, because I had 15% oil left, so I ended up making a Saturday appointment ... it was nice that they are open on Saturdays. Normally I just go after work on a weekday (no appointment needed, in that case, though).
