The Friday Five, 10/25/19: 5 things I've been up to this week

This week has been fairly busy, but at the same time has seemed really long, for some reason, so I'm glad today is Friday.

Chicken wonton tacos, at Applebee's. Only ~$4 during happy hour!

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Seeing movies. Last Friday, we saw the new Maleficent, which I would give 3.5/5 stars, and the 3D was fantastic. On Saturday, we saw Gemini Man, and I guess I'd give it 2.75/5? I'll admit I took a short snoozle during it ... we also saw it in 3D and HFR (High Frame Rate), which I didn't like, as I found it distracting. I saw The Hobbit a while back also in HFR and didn't like it then, either. Going to see The Lighthouse tonight, which I've heard good things about.
  2. Eating out. On Friday, we went to Applebee's for happy hour before Maleficent - they actually do a really great happy hour. For three plates, and three $1 drinks (two for him, one for me), the total was $17 before tip, which is a ridiculous deal. On Saturday, we grabbed some Del Taco drive-through before a Halloween party at a friend's house, and on Sunday, I met up with a friend at Anna's House, in Farmington Hills, for lunch. Sunday night I had Mr. Kabob Xpress, and Tuesday we did Hungry Howie's takeout, since I had a coupon. On Wednesday night, my parents and I also went to MOD Pizza before the David Sedaris show at the Fisher.
  3. Seeing David Sedaris at the Fisher Theatre. He's one of my favorite authors, so I was so excited I got to promote him on my blog and attend as a blogger. He put on a fantastic reading per usual and he did a signing afterwards too, where my mom and I got to meet him and talk to him for a few minutes. I got my copy of Calypso signed, too.
  4. Attending a Halloween party. A friend threw a Halloween party last Saturday and went all out. I was the devil, as I have been for most of the past 14 Halloweens, but I made the mistake of bragging about how my devil's horns (basically a headband) were still holding up so well after 14 years ... karma bit me and in the street outside my friend's house, part of the headband broke off :( they are still wearable but it hurts a little to wear it. A coworker is doing a Halloween party tomorrow too but luckily I was planning on going as Wednesday Addams for that one - a super easy costume (black sweater + dress, and white collared shirt under the dress).
  5. Being sick, on and off. I alternate between shivering uncontrollably and being super hot. So that's fun. I also am having my (biyearly) colonoscopy on Monday, so I am NOT looking forward to the prep on Sunday ... I'm no rookie at it but every year it is terrible. Basically you can only have clear-colored liquids, and not much actual food, unless you want hard candies, Jello, or popsicles/Italian ice ... I bought some popsicles and Italian ice yesterday at Meijer.
