The Friday Five, 3/5/21: 5 things I've been up to this week

This week has been busy, I had to leave the house twice (lol) for doctor appointments, and I've been busy helping lots of people schedule vaccine appointments, too!

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Helping people get vaccine appointments! It's kind of a rush because they are so hard to get, at least on the Rite-Aid site. A friend has said I should do a blog post with some tips and maybe I will, eventually. The biggest tip is to check between 11:40pm to 12:20am most days, except Sunday and Monday, because that's when new appointments are usually posted—otherwise, it's just scrounging for cancellations. The good news is that the state of Michigan is opening it up to ages 50+ with health conditions starting MONDAY, and you can start booking on Rite-Aid's site today, as long as you put in a different year (and make sure to put their correct birthdate on the end screen). Don't quote me on that, but that's how I've been doing it, at least.
  2. Going out to eat—actually out! Last Friday I met a friend at Griffin Claw Clubhouse in Rochester last Friday—the plan was to eat outside by their fire pits, but we ended up eating in their enclosed patio, since some fresh air was coming in. It looked like they had some sort of sanitizer going, too, plus heaters. On Tuesday, my boyfriend and I did Bobcat Bonnie Ferndale's outdoor tent, for happy hour, which was also nice and cozy, they had heaters too. Their happy hour deals are really good—$6 cocktails and $6 appetizers, which I usually make into a meal (example, their chicken tenders with honey sriracha dipping sauce, and their Brussels sprouts with the same sauce).
  3. Lots of doctor appointments. I had my yearly physical on Wednesday, and a dentist appointment on Thursday. I actually didn't mind them because it meant I got to leave the house ... however, on Wednesday I got my monthly B12 shot, as well as some bloodwork done, and my arm is super black and blue today. And most likely will be, for one to two weeks, from my experience.
  4. Watching the Golden Globes. Last Sunday, my boyfriend and I watched the Golden Globes together. I miss seeing the red carpets, but for a virtual show, it wasn't bad. I was glad to see Rosamund Pike win her category for her work in I Care a Lot, which I watched last Saturday on Netflix, during my infusion, and which was FANTASTIC—I'd probably give it 4.5/5 stars.
  5. Cooking. I received an EveryPlate box last week, and I sprung for HelloFresh this week. Unfortunately, they screwed up one of my meals—I had ordered the Chicken L'Orange, which comes with chicken cutlets, and they sent me the correct meat, with an entirely different recipe ... some sort of Moroccan chicken. I was able to print the recipe card online, but that recipe comes with some sort of seasoned chicken sausage. I guess I'll use the cutlets. HF did make it right, they gave me a $20 credit towards my next order, but kind of a bummer. (#firstworldproblems, for sure, but luckily the Moroccan chicken looks tasty too ...)
