The Friday Five, 11/26/21: 5 things I've been up to this week

I almost didn't write this post because I stayed up till 3am watching TV last night (#ThanksgivingVacation) and I completely forgot it's Friday today. Oops. This week was a short work week, which is nice, and I'm staying with my parents for a few days, which is always like a mini vacation.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Eating out. Last Friday I met a friend at Green Lantern Berkley, and I hadn't been to that location before—it's super nice. We got their candied bacon and also a small round deep-dish pizza (yes, you read that right; ask for their ROUND deep-dish, which I'm convinced is actually two round crusts stacked on top of each other), which ended up being huge. On Sunday, I met someone at Pumachug for brunch, in Clawson, which was very good, and on Sunday night I met someone at Imperial for dinner. Imperial is always good too, and I was able to stop by the Rust Belt Market across the street for a minute, too, to pick up some greeting cards from my favorite stall there. On Monday, a friend came in from Ann Arbor and we finally got to try out Kura in Troy, the conveyor belt sushi place, which was as fabulous as I thought it would be, and on Tuesday, I had dinner at Bahama Breeze before a show at the Fisher.
  2. Seeing Hadestown at the Fisher. I walked into Hadestown with zero expectations and was very pleasantly surprised. I knew it was a story from the underworld just based on the name, but it ended up having very jazzy music and heavy orchestral music, which I really liked. It's playing until December 5th and you can find more info here.
  3. Seeing movies in the theater. Last Saturday, I trekked to AMC Livonia to see The French Dispatch, which was just okay; Wes Anderson movies are always "twee" to me, and I read a review that said this is the most Wes Anderson Wes Anderson movie (not a typo, haha) that they had ever seen, which I agree with; I'd give it 2.5/5 stars, despite the fantastic cast. On Wednesday, I saw Encanto in 3D and I really enjoyed that one—it's very cute and I've been listening to the music a bit more since then, too, so I'd give it 4/5 stars. Yesterday, my parents and I went to Emagine Novi to see House of Gucci, which we had all been wanting to see; it was very good, as was Adam Driver, Lady Gaga, Al Pacino, Jared Leto, and the rest of the cast, but I did check my watch a LOT, so I'd give it 3.5/5. Today I am going to see Belfast at Phoenix Theaters, and I've only been to Phoenix once so that should be interesting.
  4. Watching TV shows. Season 4 of Selling Sunset was released on Wednesday and I binged it all Wednesday and Thursday night. Some interesting guests show up ... Tarek, of course (who is engaged to one of the cast ladies), but also Simu Liu, who is looking to buy a house, which was fun! I also watched more of The Sex Lives on College Girls, on HBO Max, since three new episodes have been released, and surprisingly, Gossip Girl (the new version, obviously) also released three new episodes.
  5. Staying up way too late. I tend to have no regard for the time when I'm on a work break, and I stayed up till 3am Wednesday night and almost 3:30am yesterday ... so I'm pretty tired today, ugh. It's going to be a rough transition on Sunday when I have to go to bed by 11:45pm-ish for work the next day, too, which is why I tend not to stay up past 1 or 2am on weekends, usually.
