The Friday Five, 4/7/23: 5 things I've been up to this week

It's been another busy week, and I am taking today and Monday off work, for the Easter holiday, which should be nice. We are driving to Indiana today and then on Monday I am seeing my first Red Wings game ever (!), at LCA.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Belated Valentine's Day in Ann Arbor. My boyfriend technically got me a Nintendo Switch for Valentine's Day (also kind of a COVID present, since we were both stuck quarantining separately...) but I only gave him a small ALDI candle, with the intention of taking him out somewhere nice, and we finally got to do that in Ann Arbor on Saturday. I booked us a one-hour soak at the Oasis Hot Tub Gardens, which I had been wanting to try for a while, and it was really nice—you can choose to do a one hour, 1.5-hour, or two-hour soak, but one hour was more than enough. After that, we went to Gandy Dancer for dinner, which I had only been to once, for A2 Restaurant Week a while back, and that was very nice as well. We finished the night at Nightcap, downtown, for some drinks, and also stopped by Vault of Midnight to look at their comics and games.
  2. Seeing movies. Last Friday I saw the new Dungeons & Dragons movie, which I thought was fun; I'd give it 4/5. Yesterday I saw The Super Mario Bros. Movie, in 3D, and I liked it but I didn't LOVE it. I'd recommend seeing it in theaters (the 3D was good too), though.
  3. Watching TV shows. Grease: The Rise of the Pink Ladies is now streaming on Paramount+ and I'm pretty excited about it—I loved the movie Grease. The first two episodes are up and I liked both of them, so I'll continue watching. I also binged Swarm, on Prime, in two days, and that was a CRAZY show but really interesting—the main character is OBSESSED with a pop star named Ni'Jah (obviously modeled on Beyonce) and she will literally do anything to meet her, and also hurt anyone who speaks poorly of Ni'Jah. It's supposedly based on a true story so I'd be curious to know more about that. I'm finally on Ted Lasso season 3 on AppleTV+ too; yesterday we watched episode two, so I'm only two episodes behind now, as we started watching it from the beginning (first time for me; a rewatch for my boyfriend).
  4. Cooking. I had Blue Apron last week, which I always enjoy, and Marley Spoon this week, which is also very good. Last night I tried one of MS's "simpler" recipes, in that it's only a main dish and not a side (Chicken Piccata). We paired it with some pasta though and it was pretty good.
  5. Clothes shopping. Maurice's, in Novi, is one of my favorite place for clothes, because they have a very stylish plus-size section. However, they apparently moved—they used to be right to Walmart, in Novi Town Center, and now they moved across the parking lot, essentially, so they are a few stores down from Crumbl (dangerous ... thankfully I went on a Sunday and Crumbl is closed on Sundays). I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the new layout/store—I much preferred the older one—but oh well. I was primarily there to do a return, since I had purchased some swimsuits on their website and decided to keep only one of them, but I also purchased a few shirts, which was nice.
