The Friday Five, 7/21/23: 5 things I've been up to this week

I know I start a lot of my Friday Five posts with "this week has felt too long" but here's another occurrence of that—my guess is because two weeks ago, I had a three-day work week; last week, I had a four-day work week because of my Grand Haven trip; and this week has been all five days.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Seeing movies at the theater. I saw The Miracle Club last week which was a sad story at times, and I'd give it 3.5/5. I saw Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One in Super EMAX at Emagine Novi last week and would give that 4/5, with the caveat that I did fall asleep for about 30 minutes. And I got to see the much-anticipated Barbie at the theater last night, and would give that one 4 out of 5 stars. I am planning on seeing Oppenheimer at Emagine Novi (again in Super EMAX, in PLF format, as the director Christopher Nolan recommends) on Tuesday.
  2. Trying a new skincare regime. Good Molecules pitched me via email a few weeks ago asking me if I'd like to try some of their products. So far I like that they don't have scents, and that my skin feels nice and soft when I wear them. I usually just use a cleanser when I bathe every night, so this has been something different to try.
  3. Getting takeout. On Friday night, I was headed back to my boyfriend's house and I picked up Uncle Andy's Pizza in Farmington, which was a treat—they used to have a Clawson location but closed a few years ago, and their pizza is really good. I used to always get their Chicago-style deep dish, for like $10—they had a Groupon, $10 off $20+ order—and this time we tried their cheesy bread and the Detroit-style, both of which were very tasty. On Sunday night, my parents and I got Hungry Howie's pizza, also, and they were doing a 50% off sale, so we tried their BBQ Chicken this time, and that was good too.
  4. Ordering a watch ... The time of death for the watch I mentioned last week, which I got the back fixed ($5) on THURSDAY, was this MONDAY around 6pm, apparently :( the battery was being held in with tape, so I guess I'm not too surprised, but I thought I would get more than four days' usage out of it. Surprisingly, Timex still sells that same watch, so I ended up ordering one from Target. I remember the leather on the watch strap takes a while to loosen up, but I think I bought this one at Walmart in like ... 2018 or earlier, so I guess I got my money's worth ...
  5. Posting a lot of giveaways. I have been busy this week posting blog giveaways, and you can find them here (book contests) and here (movie/local contests)—my GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 digital code giveaway is actually ending tonight, too.
