The Friday Five, 4/5/24: 5 things I've been up to this week

This week has passed by fast, and this weekend we are going to Indiana to see the eclipse on Monday with my fiance's family—some relatives are coming in from Minnesota, Idaho, and Florida, too.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Eating out/getting takeout. Last Friday, I brought Pink Garlic to my fiance's house, which is always tasty; they're in Oak Park (basically OP/Berkley line) and have the best Indian food in the area, IMO. On Monday, we both had the day off work, so we went to Tomatoes APizza (Apizza?) in Farmington Hills for their lunch pizza buffet—I hadn't been there in many years, but it was still very good, and $12.99 gets you all the pizza you can eat, plus salad, chocolate piadina (like pizza crust with Nutella—OMG, so good), and unlimited soft drinks. And yesterday I tried out Sunrise Thai, in Madison Heights, for takeout, and it was also very good; I ordered Pad Cashew, Thai iced tea, and a single spring roll, all for about $18 (also a good price).
  2. Cooking. We had Blue Apron this week, which is always good, and we made a chicken with blueberry pan sauce (see below for pic) plus a steak with a soy glaze. We still have a tomato fettuccine recipe to make tonight, as well.
  3. Wedding stuff. Also on Monday, we went to Men's Wearhouse in West Bloomfield, because my fiance is a groomsman in a wedding in May and needed to rent a suit—as a heads up, that location is closing next week, on May 10th, so the next-closest location to there will be Novi. I also ordered a sample of what we hope to order for our wedding invitation—it's from a print shop in Ohio that showed up randomly for me in a FB or IG ad, I believe, and they work with you one-on-one for edits, which is really nice. I have more of an idea of what I want now for "embellishments" for the invite, too (i.e. what makes it pretty/fancy!) so it should look nice.
I've also started planning my bachelorette weekend ... we are hoping to go July 3-6 to Traverse City. There are six girlfriends and I who are possibly interested, and I'm waiting to hear from a few others too.
  4. Watching movies. I watched Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire *again* in the theater last Friday—I only wanted to see the 20-30 minutes I accidentally slept through, but ended up staying for the whole movie because it's so fun. I'd still give it 4/5, MAYBE 3.75/5 because there are a few plot holes. Last night I watched She Came to Me on Hulu, which had a great cast—Anne Hathaway, Peter Dinklage, Marisa Tomei, and more—but unfortunately I'd only give it 2/5 stars, because it meandered and really didn't have much of a plot (this also explains why I saw a tweet about it but like zero advertising ...). My fiance and I also saw Midsommar last weekend, since he hadn't seen it, and I still really like that movie, although it's also still weird AF ... very creepy. I don't usually like horror movies but I like that one. We also watched Damsel on Netflix, with Millie Bobby Brown, and I would give that one 4/5 (it reminded me of Midsommar a bit, which is why we watched that after it).
On Sunday, we finally saw Dune: Part II in the theater, and I liked it, although I really need to rewatch the first one now—I saw it with my neighbor in late 2011 and also liked it. I unfortunately took like a 10-minute nap during this one but I'd still give it 4/5 stars.
  5. Watching TV shows. A lot of good returning shows this week, such as Loot season two (AppleTV). I continued watching The Good Doctor, Married at First Sight, and Palm Royale, and I started The Girls on the Bus on Max which is also very good. Unfortunately there were no Abbott Elementary or Not Dead Yet episodes this week, though.
