The Friday Five, 5/31/24: 5 things I've been up to this week

This has felt like the longest month ever—I swear I've lived like five different lives this month—and today isn't even June, it's May 31st! Although this was a very fun month, I'm glad to have a quieter June ahead of me.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. The last of the May weddings. Wedding #3, which was for one of my friends (weddings #1 and #2 were for my fiance's friends, although I am friends with the couple in wedding #1 too), took place at MotorCity Casino this past Saturday. It was the most "active" of the three weddings I attended—they got us up on the dance floor early—and it was a lot of fun, for one of the first friends I made when I moved to Michigan in 4th grade. I had fun at all three weddings I attended, but I have to say I'm glad there are no more weddings until our own, in September ... I am tired!
  2. Getting takeout. Last Friday, I got my fiance and I takeout from Pink Garlic, my favorite Indian place in Metro Detroit. On Saturday or Sunday I think we got Doordash from Sidecar Slider Bar, usually one of my favorites if they get our order right, and this time everything was perfect in the order. Last night, I got takeout from Sunrise Thai, in Madison Heights, but unfortunately I ordered my meal with mild spice and I think they gave me medium; it was a bit too spicy for me.
  3. Seeing movies. My fiance and I watched The Fall Guy on digital (first-time watch for him, second for me, as I saw it in the theater too), which was a lot of fun. Last night I saw The Garfield Movie in 3D, which was okay—I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars—but I didn't know I'd need Kleenex for it! (we get Garfield's backstory, and it's quite sad in parts) It actually reminded me a bit of Chicken Run, one of my favorite animated movies. Tonight I'm seeing Babes at the theater, as well; there are too many movies I want to see this month, unfortunately, including the newest Mad Max and also the newest Planet of the Apes, and not enough time to see them all.
  4. Celebrating birthdays. A lot of May birthdays: May 24th is my fiance's, May 26th is his mom's, and May 28th is another friend's. My fiance and I unfortunately have both had colds/allergy symptoms this week—I think I picked up some crud in Indy or Chicago this month—so we didn't celebrate too much, but I did get him a card, and I bought that turtle artwork for him earlier this month too.
  5. Watching TV shows. We are Lady Parts is back on Peacock, and it's a fun watch; there are only six episodes, so I'm already four episodes in, for season two. Under the Bridge had its conclusion this week, on Hulu, and Trying is back on AppleTV, which I also like. My fiance and I started The Gentlemen, on Netflix, which has been crazy—it's a Guy Ritchie project, which is pretty much all you need to know to back up that statement—but a lot of fun, and we've also been watching Dark Matter, on Hulu. I binged the book (is that a thing, "binging" books?) this week, by Blake Crouch, as well, and the TV show has already been a bit different from it, so I'm curious what aspects of the book it will choose to use or not use. Loot also ended its season this week, and we watched a little bit of season two of Interview with the Vampire, on AMC, also.
