The Friday Five, 9/19/25: 5 things I've been up to this week

September is flying by although, oddly, we are still having summer weather—which is good, because my ankles are still super swollen from pregnancy/giving birth, and it's been about five weeks now (so I've been living in sandals).

What I've been up to this week:

  1. Getting takeout/dining out. On Friday, I had to go to Beaumont (Corewell) Royal Oak for a leg ultrasound, so I definitely stopped by Crumbl around the corner to get some cookies—I had enough "Crumbs" (loyalty points) for a free one. I bought the Molten Lava cookie and the Oreo one (see below for pic), but weirdly enough I liked the Molten Lava better, as the Oreo one was very fluffy and more like a cake. On Monday, it was our anniversary, and my parents watched Baby K so we could go out for a nice meal; we ended up trying out Single Barrel Social, in Brighton, upon friends' recommendation, and it was very good, I would definitely go back. Today, my parents will watch the baby again so we can run some errands and go to Texas Roadhouse for dinner, they gave us a gift card for our anniversary.
  2. Celebrating our first wedding anniversary. This past Monday, September 15th was our first wedding anniversary, which is crazy—it alternately feels like a million years ago that we got married and also like yesterday, haha. Needless to say we've been a bit busy this year—I found out I was pregnant in early December—but we had a nice dinner out and exchanged presents. It was also nice to have some wine at home, plus a few cocktails while at dinner.
  3. Dropping off a car to get fixed. Last week it was my car that was in the shop for some paint repairs, this week it's my husband's, although we went to a different place. This shop was one I used a long time ago when I used to live in the Northern part of WB, and they always did good work and had fair prices; it's about a 20-minute drive from where we live now (used to be about 5 minutes from where I used to live, in WB).
  4. Watching TV and movies. I binged The Girlfriend, on Prime, this week, in between pumping sessions, which was crazy and really good; I have the e-book checked out from the library and would like to read it. Last night, I watched The Wrong Paris, a Netflix movie, which was super cute—it reminded me a bit of Miss Congeniality—and I'd give it 4/5 stars, especially if you like fluffy movies. I also finished The Summer I Turned Pretty (also on Prime) only to find out they are doing a movie to wrap up the entire series! In addition, The Morning Show (AppleTV) and High Potential (ABC/Hulu) returned, and I continued watching Only Murders in the Building (Hulu).
  5. Leaving the house for errands. Maybe not super exciting but it's always nice to get out of the house. I had to return plus pick up a book at the Farmington library this week, and I also stopped by Aldi to get us some groceries—their "Aisle of Shame" always gets me, too, and I ended up buying a few greeting cards (99c each, a bargain!) plus a clock that has a wireless charger on it. Not sure where I will use the clock since I already have some wireless chargers, but maybe in our guest bedroom.
