The Friday Five, 10/3/25: 5 things I've been up to this week
This has been a busy week—my mother-in-law is visiting and helping us with the baby, so because of that, I have been able to be more active than I would have been otherwise, including seeing a show at the Fisher!
What I've been up to this week:
- Seeing Beauty and the Beast at the Fisher Theatre. I apparently missed my pitch email for this one and realized it was coming up so I messaged my contact. I got to see it last night with my mom, and it was a FABULOUS time—I last saw it in 2016 at the Fox, apparently, and I believe they've revamped it since then. A lot of people dressed up as Belle or the Beast last night, too, including kids, which was a lot of fun. It's at the Fisher until October 12th and I highly recommend it—you can find more info here at its website.
- Playdate for Baby K. Baby K had her first playdate, technically, last Saturday, when an old friend of mine came over with her baby boy, who was born in May. There were no meltdowns until the end, when we tried to take photos, because I think BK was hungry (she eats a lot now, sometimes every hour!), so that was good, at least. My friend also brought over Dairy Queen for us and some gifts for BK.
- Watching TV shows. I finished The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox (Hulu) this week and it was really good; I'm now reading her book, Waiting to Be Heard although apparently she has a new book out this year too. Love is Blind (Netflix) is back on, although I've only watched one episode so far, and Abbott Elementary (Hulu/ABC) was back this week too. I also watched new episodes of The Morning Show (AppleTV) and Only Murders in the Building (Hulu). Chad Powers (Hulu) is a new show this week, also, with Glen Powell, which has been touted as Ted Lasso meets Mrs. Doubtfire, and it was a lot of fun so I'll watch more when new episodes come out. I also binged the new season of English Teacher on Hulu, although I think I have one or two more episodes left, and it's really funny.
- Getting our new La-Z-Boy delivered. We actually ended up buying two ... one for downstairs, near the living room, and one for the nursery. We ordered the nursery one when Baby K was only a week or two old, and they quoted us 6-8 weeks, but I think it only took 3-4, which was nice. It's great to have for late-night feedings, especially. That one is a leather recliner, and the one downstairs will be fabric.
- Lots of doctor appointments. Not super fun, I guess, but does get me out of the house. On Monday I had a virtual appointment, and on Wednesday I restarted physical therapy, at my OB's office, to hopefully help with C-section recovery. PT was at 10:30am and then I headed *back* to the OB office at 3:30pm for my "six-week appointment" (even though this was week seven of postpartum for me). Thankfully the OB office is only a five-minute drive.
