The Friday Five, 11/21/25: 5 things I've been up to this week

Super short Friday Five today, because we are trying to get Baby K out the door to daycare ... my husband and I both took today off work and we are headed to Frankenmuth today, I'm super excited about it although it means I'll have to pump "on the road" so we'll see how that goes ...

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Getting takeout/delivery. On Saturday night we got Pink Garlic via Doordash, and on Monday I had to run some errands so I got myself Culver's (I was at Meijer/Costco, same area in WB/Commerce Twp) which was tasty. 
  2. Seeing a movie at the theater! Of course I slept through part of it, LOL, but I saw Now You See Me: Now You Don't on Sunday, because my parents (aka the grandparents) babysat for me, and from what I saw of it, I'd give it 4/5 stars. I liked the other movies in the franchise, as well. I signed up for the Emagine Extras program, which is $12.75 a year, so I could book online without any fees, and they gave me a free medium popcorn for doing so, which I surprisingly ate most of ... I think I was hungry, usually I eat half or less and take the rest home. 
  3. Getting a massage. This was a treat; my last massage was a prenatal one, gifted to me, and it was nice but different than what I was used to. A friend is in massage school and was looking for people to give massages to, for school hours, so I went to her house in Hazel Park—her school was in Clinton Twp, so that was a bit too far for me—on Friday night and had a one-hour massage, which was super nice. 
  4. Secretary of State visit. The SOS is definitely not my favorite place to visit—especially the WB location—but this only took 20-30 minutes, which was one of the fastest visits ever. I had to change the title on my car, since it was still in my maiden name—I was worried that if I ever got pulled over, there would be confusion, since my license is in my married name. A $15 check later—check, not credit card, because they charge a fee to pay with a credit card—I was on my way, and they will mail me a new title. 
  5. Watching TV shows. I'm mostly done with Selling the OC, I think I have one episode left, and I also caught up on Elsbeth, Loot, DMV, and The Morning Show—what a great season finale, and some fabulous acting by Jennifer Aniston, Marion Cotillard, and cast.

Trip Review: Bavarian Inn Lodge, Frankenmuth, MI

This past Friday, I had the pleasure of staying at the Bavarian Inn Lodge , in Frankenmuth, Michigan, for one night. I've been to Frankenmuth many times, and even stayed overnight in the neighboring Birch Run, but I had never stayed directly in the city before, so I was excited to stay at the Lodge. Friday was a rainy day, but we didn't let that stop us from having fun. We stopped at Halo Burger, in Birch Run, for lunch—there used to be locations in Novi and Troy, but both closed, and their food is very good—and then hit up Bronner's Christmas Wonderland, which is the largest Christmas store in the world.  For those who are unfamiliar with Frankenmuth , it is a German/Bavaria-themed town, about an hour north of the Metro Detroit area, nicknamed "Michigan's Little Bavaria."
