The Friday Five, 11/7/25: 5 things I've been up to this week
This week went by fast although Tuesday was my first day back at work. I got like 4.5 hours of sleep one day and 5.5 hours on Wednesday night, but I think last night I maybe got like 6-7 hours, non-consecutive ... aka, I'm still tired, but not EXHAUSTED exhausted like I was previously.

What I've been up to this week:
- Celebrating Baby K's Halloween. Kinda/sorta. She's only 12 weeks old, so that's too young to go out, but we got a grand total of *three* trick-or-treaters this year, and she greeted them at the door with us. It did give us an excuse to dress her up in cute outfits, though, including the pumpkin hat you see above (which is SUPER cute but always falls off of her, LOL). Hoping next year will be more eventful.
- Running errands. On Friday, I took Baby K to get an RSV shot ... I wanted to get one for myself too but you have to be over 50 years of age or pregnant, so even though I'm immunocompromised, it didn't matter. On Saturday, both my husband and I needed oil changes, so we each went to Midas, but at different times (so someone would be home with the baby). On Sunday, I went to Meijer for us, and on Monday, my last day not working, I went to Aldi.
- Baby K starting daycare. Since both my husband and I work full-time, Baby K will be attending a local daycare. Monday was her first day—which was super weird for me, since I still wasn't working Monday—and this week we decided to send her only four days, since we have family visiting from out of town. Generally she'll be going five days a week. The first day, dropoff was definitely emotional, but it's gotten a tiny bit easier since then. We also have to remember to pack her bottles each day (full of milk or formula) and initially we sent a backpack full of clean clothes, in case she needs it.
- Getting takeout/delivery. On Monday, it was my last free day, so I stopped at Panera and got a $2 frozen hot chocolate (new on their menu); they had sent me a coupon for a $2 one, and normally they're about $4.25, I think. On Tuesday, my first day back to work, we were both zonked, so we got Noori delivered from Clawson, which is always tasty. On Wednesday night, same deal, so we got Thai Fresh, from Northville delivered. Yesterday, since we have family in town and I had some coupons, I got us Jet's takeout; I hadn't had Jet's in a while (we usually do Buddy's) and it was really good. We are maybe hoping to take the family and Baby K to a cider mill this weekend, but the weather is supposed to be super crappy all weekend (today it's raining, tomorrow it'll just be cold, and Sunday it'll be SNOWING, which I'm not happy about).
- Going back to work. I'll admit I kind of missed my job—I'm a B2B writer in the food industry, specifically about snacks and candy, and overall it's pretty interesting. I returned to it on Tuesday after 12 weeks away, and my inbox had 4100 emails ... I had been checking emails pretty steadily during leave, too, so my guess is otherwise it would've been more like 4200. This week hasn't been too bad easing back into it, fingers crossed.
