I'll probably include some stuff in this Friday Five that happened in the past 1.5-2 weeks, since I wasn't able to do one last week. It's been a busy month and I can't believe it's already Dec. 19th!

What I've been up to these (past two) weeks:
- Traveling to Louisville with friends. My husband and I took Baby K on her first road trip a week from last Thursday, and she stayed with my in-laws while we vacationed to Louisville with friends. We had done this trip with the same friends last year, too, and it's always a good time visiting distilleries and having some tasty meals and treats, like the cornbread dish pictured above.
- First road trip with Baby K. As I mentioned above, we drove to Indiana (four hours without stops, about 4.5-5 hours with) that Thursday, and then my husband and I left for Louisville Friday, and returned Monday; we left Indiana for Michigan that Tuesday. This was my first time leaving Baby K since she was born, and I definitely missed her, but it was also nice to have some recharging time, too. We will be going back to Indiana for the holidays, also, so it was a good "dry run" of sorts, too ... we know what worked (almost making it the four hours nonstop, on the ride home, for example) and what didn't work (waiting until the day before + morning of to pack) for this next iteration.
- Eating out and getting takeout/delivery. It was nice to be able to eat a hot meal in some restaurants! We started off with North of Bourbon, a favorite from last year's trip, and it was probably the best meal of this trip ... other standouts included takeout from Goodfellas' pizza (a regional chain, but I had never tried it), plus Volare, an Italian restaurant, on the second-to-last day. We also went back to Pretty Decent, which is a mezcal bar but ALSO a fun plant shop.
My husband and I also got Thai delivery this week, and hopefully are doing Noori chicken tonight; and I believe we got Thai last week, too. We stopped at Culver's on the way up to Indiana, also, but with a baby that maybe wasn't the wisest idea; it was my first time changing her in public and honestly was a bit stressful, but I'm sure with more practice, it will become less so. - Staying at a freezing Airbnb. The Airbnb we stayed at was super nice, but Louisville isn't normally this cold, I believe (it was like 5 or 10 degrees out one day), and the house was from 1890 or 1900 (the listing said 1890 in one part, and 1900 in another), so even with two furnaces it wasn't able to keep up. When we arrived, the thermostat was set to 55 degrees; I believe our friends turned it up to 65, and it got up to 62 or 64, but then started struggling. Our room was upstairs and we had a second thermostat, which we put to 70 or 72, but I think the highest it ever got was 65 or 66 degrees, although it was still a lot warmer upstairs vs. down. It's a shame, too, because the house was completely updated, and super nice, other than that ... my friend messaged the host and he/she sent us some space heaters, the day before we left, which helped get temps back up to 62-64 or so. - Distillery tastings and tours. Last year, we went to Maker's Mark, Peerless, and I believe one other; this year, we went back to Peerless (for a tasting only, no tour this time), plus did tastings and tours at Old Forester and Starlight Distillery. Starlight was a particularly unique experience - we got to bottle our own bourbon, directly from their (tap? from a bourbon barrel, I mean) and got to sign it and customize it. Old Forester was pretty interesting, too, because I knew a little bit about their bourbon but not a ton, so the tour was a fun time.
