The Friday Five, 3/20/26: 5 things I've been up to this week

Well, here we are in mid-March already ... time is flying by. This week was busy but also kinda crazy so it didn't really seem like it.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Going to social events. We had a baby shower to go to on Saturday, for the Best Man from our wedding plus his wife, and on Sunday, I went to a friend's son's birthday party ... it was going to be the first time Baby Kuhn went to a social event, too, but she had a runny nose and a cough this week, so my husband stayed home with her instead. It was nice to see friends though and get out—I feel like we don't get to do that as much anymore.
  2. Getting delivery and takeout. Last Friday, I believe it was, my MIL was still in town, so we got El Patio via Doordash. On Saturday, I got us The Great Greek takeout, in WB (use code BOGO to get one free this month!), and we got Mamaeatz (Indian sandwiches) via Doordash earlier this week. We also got Noori, which is a favorite, although they are apparently closed on Mondays ... we tried them on Tuesday, and IDK if it was because it was St. Patrick's Day or what, but they quoted us about one hour (it takes 30 minutes just to drive here from Clawson, so that's standard for them IMO) but it took like *two* hours to get our food, and it was cold, which was a bummer. I complained to Doordash and they refunded us 100%, though, albeit in DD credits, so I'll take it.
  3. Watching TV shows and movies. I'm finally up to date on Hijack, on AppleTV (I finished the last two episodes). Yesterday I watched Shrinking, Abbott Elementary, and part of Virgin River (new season is up on Netflix). I also finally watched Hamnet, on Peacock—Jessie Buckley won the Oscars this past Sunday (which I also watched, kinda; bits and pieces, mostly on mute), and I had heard great things about it. It was pretty good but I probably need to rewatch and give it more attention next time. The ending was pretty cool because it was at the Globe Theater (kinda; I Googled this after, and they built a replica of it), which I visited in 2009 when I was in London, too.
I also watched Age of Attraction, which is a crazy show, and the Love is Blind reunion and a few other things, I believe, including Paradise—one of my favorite shows, although this week's episode was just okay—and the Scrubs reboot.
  4. Only having one car. My husband's car has been in the shop for over a week now, so it's a good thing I work at home, because he's been taking my car for work and daycare dropoff. Because of that, I had to reschedule my weekly PT to today, since we are both home, and we just realized that Baby K's stroller is probably in his car, so we will have to swing by the shop today to get it, since she has a doctor's appointment today.
  5. Having no heat. On Tuesday, when it was about 16 degrees in the morning, my husband woke me up at 3:30am to tell me the furnace had shut off ... this has happened before, but it's the first time since we've had a baby. We tried troubleshooting it until 5am or so, and then tried sleeping 6-6:30am, to no avail. I had called the furnace repair company we usually use, and at 7am they called and said they could come down 9-10am. Baby K got taken to daycare but I had to work, so by the time they arrived, the house was a nice and cool 63 degrees, LOL ... I was bundled up in a sweatshirt. Thankfully, they got it fixed, and a few hours later the house was a nice toasty 72 or so.
  6. Work samples. Forgot to post this one, re: the image above—for my job I'm fortunate to get a lot of snack and candy samples, and yesterday we received McConnell's Ice Cream (we don't write about them, but they occasionally pitch us); Good Warrior, which is the new meat snack from PepsiCo; and Levain Bakery cookies, which I was super excited about. I've only had Levain once, via Doordash in Chicago last year when I was there for work, and it was pretty amazing ... I had the Caramel Chocolate Chip cookie yesterday, and my husband and I split the Carrot Cake one, and both were excellent, especially warmed up in the oven.
