The Friday Five, 11/10/17: 5 things I've been up to this week

This week I've attended two theater shows and have seen three movies: Thank You for Your Service and A Bad Moms Christmas, both through MoviePass, and Last Flag Flying, at a screening. I'll be attending a screening of The Star on Saturday, too. I've had some time to just sit and relax too, though, which is always nice.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Eating out and cooking. On Friday, before Kinky Boots at the Fox, a friend and I tried out Rusted Crow, which is about a 5-minute walk from the theater. They ended up having a great happy hour—the $7 chicken nachos, in particular, were super tasty—and we also split a burger and fries. On Saturday night, my parents and I went out to Maggiano's, one of our favorite places, to celebrate their 35th anniversary. Also on Saturday, I also cooked slow cooker Thai peanut chicken, and on Sunday, my boyfriend and I cooked chicken cacciatore in my new Le Creuset pot that I won, which came out great. And on Monday, I attended an influencer tasting of Balence (correct spelling) juices at Brome, in Dearborn.
  2. Seeing musicals downtown. I saw Kinky Boots on Friday, at the Fox Theatre, and then on Tuesday I saw The Color Purple, at the Fisher. I enjoyed both although I think I liked Purple a bit more.
  3. Breaking out the winter coat. I've been wearing a lighter coat + vest combo, but with temps in Michigan now dropping to the mid/high-30s at night, I finally had to bring my winter coat out of my hall closet. Definitely a bummer but it's always better to be warm.
  4. Grocery shopping, in style. On Sunday we checked out the new Whole Foods in Birmingham. I had been there on its grand opening day, but it was crazy busy, so I wanted to have more time to properly explore it. They have both a macaron and mochi bar which is awesome, although pricey ($10 for 6, or $2 each), as well as a full bar area, too.
  5. Booked airfare for my Orlando trip + bought a Universal Studios ticket. Universal is pretty pricey but I've been dying to go to their World of Harry Potter ever since it opened. I also was able to partially use miles to book my airfare, on Delta, so I saved a little bit there, at least.
