Upcoming: Potted Potter (Harry Potter parody) at City Theatre, Detroit - and a giveaway! (ends 4/26)
*Disclosure: I received free show tickets in exchange for promoting this show. The opinions expressed here, however, are my own.
Hey Detroit! Potted Potter, a Harry Potter parody, will be playing at the City Theatre from Tuesday, April 28th through Sunday, May 3rd. I love the Harry Potter series (both book and movies) so I'm excited to see this.
I recommend buying tickets at Hockeytown Authentics in Troy, if you're close by, also - you get to avoid the Ticketmaster fees (or you can find them on Groupon for $31.88, currently - use my link and put in "Potted Potter" in the search bar).
Read on to win a 4-pack of tickets, as well!
More info:
Potted Potter, the hit Harry Potter parody, returns to the City Theatre for a limited engagement of nine performances, Tuesday, April 28 through Sunday, May 3. Potted Potter is perfect for ages six to Dumbledore (who is very old indeed).
Tickets ($42.50 and $52.50) are on sale now and can be purchased at OlympiaEntertainment.com, The Fox Theatre and Joe Louis Arena box offices, Hockeytown Authentics in Troy (without service charge) at all Ticketmaster locations and Ticketmaster.com. To charge tickets by phone, call (800) 745-3000. For additional information, call (313) 471-6611. Groups of 10 or more receive a discount on select shows by calling 313-471-3099.
A critic's pick by The New York Times, New York Magazine, Boston Globe, Chicago Daily Herald and Time Out London, Potted Pottertakes on the ultimate challenge of condensing, or "potting," all seven Harry Potter books into 75 madcap minutes, aided by multiple costume changes, brilliant songs, ridiculous props and a generous helping of Hogwarts magic. The two former BBC hosts also invite audiences to engage in a real-life game of Quidditch, played according to Clarkson and Turner's unique (and definitely not canon) set of rules.
Starvox Entertainment and Potted Productions introduced the hilarious show to North American audiences with a record-breaking run at Toronto's Panasonic Theatre. Since that time, Potted Potter has played a hit, off-Broadway run at the Shubert Theatre (twice!) and is now on its' third North American tour. This Monty Python-esque show has also sold out theatres across London, Edinburgh, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Dubai.
Whether you camped outside a bookstore for three days awaiting the release of the Deathly Hallows, or you don’t know the difference between a horcrux and a Hufflepuff, the comedy, magic and mayhem of Potted Potter makes for a fun, and funny, visit to the theatre.
Critical acclaim for Potted Potter:
“CRITICS’ PICK! Breathless and HILARIOUS! The duo casts the perfect spell over the audience. Mr. Turner plays Harry, though when he wears those signature glasses, he looks more like that pinball wizard, Elton John. Mr. Clarkson, channeling a caffeinated Robin Williams, plays everyone else, including, among others, Ron and Hermione; Draco Malfoy; Snape; the Weasleys; Sirius Black; Mad-Eye Moody; Dumbledore; and, of course, He Who Must Not Be Named. You don’t need to know all the plot twists and nuances of Hogwarts to enjoy the in-jokes, though clearly most of the delighted crowd does.” -- The New York Times.
Performance Schedule:
Tuesday, April 28 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, April 29 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, April 30 7:30 p.m.
Friday, May 1 8 p.m.
Saturday, May 2 2 p.m., 5 p.m. & 8 p.m.
Sunday, May 3 2 p.m. & 5 p.m.
