Restaurant review & GIVEAWAY: Beau's Grillery, Bloomfield Hills, MI {ends 9/10}

This past week, my family and I were able to try out Beau's Grillery, in Bloomfield Hills. I frequent that corner (Maple/15 Mile & Telegraph), as the Maple Theater and also Trader Joe's are over there, so I've always seen Beau's (formerly Beau Jack's, I believe) but I've never actually dined there.

We started off with some delicious focaccia-type bread, and we also ordered the Brussels sprouts, to start. I've been on a Brussels sprouts kick over the past year, and these were amazing—they're more like Brussels crisps, and they include shallots, fried jalapeno, ginger, honey, almonds on top, and a balsamic glaze.

Right now, Tunnel Bar-B-Q is operating as a "pop up" of sorts within Beau's Grillery—which is fortunate for my parents and I, as we had never tried them before. Their story is that they used to be located in Windsor, right by the tunnel that connects the U.S. to Canada, and they were famous for their meats and BBQ sauces. When the restaurant eventually closed, they decided to sell their sauces, and until December 2017, you can get ribs and chicken made with their recipes at Beau's. (you can also buy their sauces, which are terrific)

I ordered the half strip of ribs and half chicken combo, which comes with coleslaw and a TON of French fries. I'm not much of a spicy food fan, so I tried Tunnel Bar-B-Q's sweet sauce on my meats, and it was fantastic. 

My dad ordered the half strip of ribs, and my mom ordered the half chicken dish, with a side of mac 'n cheese, which she pronounced to be the best mac 'n cheese ever (and she's quite the mac 'n cheese connoisseur—it's one of her favorite dishes). 

And because no meal is complete without dessert, we ordered the brownie a la mode, complete with malted milk balls on top. Beau's actually only has three choices for dessert, but brownies are my favorite. The brownie was delicious—warm and with melted chocolate/fudge on the inside, and the malted milk balls gave it a crunchy taste too.

The restaurant also does a happy hour, from 3-6pm weekdays in the bar and hightop area, and I'll definitely be returning to check that out—you can't beat a $5 burger and $6 drinks, and they also have a $7 Crispy Asian Ribs option that sounds amazing too.
