The Friday Five, 12/14/18: 5 things I've been up to this week

Lots of stuff going on this week. Overall I've felt a little bit better than the previous week so that's good, as well. This upcoming weekend is going to be very busy, too.

Outdoor igloo dining at Lumen, Detroit

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Outdoor igloo dining! Last Friday, two friends and I went to Detroit to dine at Lumen, in their outdoor igloos, which have space heaters. It was very cozy—I believe the igloos can seat up to 6 people, and we were told that we might have to share ours with 3 others but no one else every showed up. I had gnocchi with chicken and a cocktail, both of which were good.
  2. Seeing movies. Duh ;). I saw a screening of Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse last Saturday at Emagine Rochester Hills, which was unlike any other comic book movie I've ever seen (click here for my review). On Sunday, I went to go see The Front Runner at AMC Livonia, which unfortunately wasn't that great; I'd give it maybe 3 stars out of 5, and only because the acting was good. On Wednesday, I saw Beautiful Boy at the AMC Forum, which was very good—I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars. This upcoming Sunday, I plan on seeing Spider-Man again in 3D—we saw it in EMAX (Emagine's version of IMAX) which was good, but I also fell asleep midway through (those recliners are too comfortable!) so I want to see it in 3D and also see the parts I missed.
  3. Getting ready for my white elephant party. Tomorrow night I'm having a few friends over for a white elephant party—my second year of hosting such a party—and it should be fun. I like to take the opportunity to cook a bit, too, and I plan on making some caprese skewers (no actual cooking required), some homemade pizza rolls, and some chocolate fondue.
  4. Wrangling with Dinnerly. I was supposed to receive my Dinnerly box this Tuesday, but instead it showed up on Wednesday, which I was not pleased about. They made it right by giving me a $10 credit towards my next box, though, when I contacted them about it. I made my first Dinnerly recipe from the box on Wednesday night, beef tostadas, and they were very good.
  5. Dining out. Other than Lumen last Friday, I had Noodles & Co. with my parents on Saturday, and then yesterday a friend and I went to El Guanaco, in Troy, for pupusas (so good! Like little pancakes filled with meat or veggies) and tacos. And horchata! We also went to see Aladdin downtown after that, which was a great show.
