The Friday Five, 8/21/20: 5 things I've been up to this week

Quarantine, end of week 23, and things are finally getting back to normal(-ish) ... I have ceilings! (low bar for 2020, I know)

I also redid the foyer this week (at my own cost, but I wanted the same materials as the kitchen) and I'll be getting new carpet hopefully sometime next week.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Binge-watching the Twilight movies. I think I have hit peak quarantine. I started reading Midnight Sun on Wednesday, which is basically Twilight but from Edward's point of view (and, fun fact, was actually written BEFORE Twilight), and because of that, I wanted to rewatch the first Twilight movie, which I did on Wednesday night. After that, I figured, may as well rewatch the whole series, and they're conveniently on Prime right now ... but being removed on Sept. 1st. Yesterday I watched New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn: Part 1, and like 30 minutes of Breaking Dawn: Part 2 ... and then I had to go to sleep. I will finish BD: Part 2 today, most likely.
  2. Getting takeout. Last Friday, we FINALLY tried Barb's Pasties and Pizza, down the street in Clawson, and the pasties were pretty good, as was the (ginormous!) piece of carrot cake. I saw my parents on Saturday and we got Cottage Inn takeout, and I also saw a friend that night for vegan soft-serve at Stuarts of Novi, which was unfortunately disappointing (the ice cream, that is—it had no taste). They also have no bathroom which for me is an issue. On Sunday, my Groupon was expiring, so my boyfriend and I got Chicken Shack takeout, which was actually pretty good, and yesterday I had $3 off in my Panera account so I got a You Pick Two, with their 1/2 Asian chicken salad and 1/2 Frontega Chicken panini, as well as chips. Tonight my boyfriend and I are planning on Culver's, as I have a coupon for that too (sign up for their e-club, they send coupons now and then).
  3. House stuff. See above; I have new kitchen floors, a new foyer floor, and new bathroom floors (x 2) as of this week—I actually really liked my previous foyer, but it was an old '80s parquet floor, so it was about time to redo it. I will be getting carpet sometime next week, but not sure when as of yet. After that, there are only a few little things left to do, and then this will FINALLY be done with ... to put things in perspective, the flood happened on May 17th, and today is August 21st.
  4. Working at the office. I worked at the office on Monday and I think Wednesday while they were working on the flooring. It's pretty empty there so overall I felt safe. I'll be back sometime next week when they work on the carpet, too. After that, I will probably keep working from home just because it's a bit safer than venturing out.
  5. Cooking. I had Dinnerly last week and also this week. This week we made garlic-butter chicken (see above), and then I made a "Vietnamese-Inspired Steak Banh Mi Bowl" later on in the week. I still have a Pork Quesadillas recipe to make, which I probably will do Monday night, then Tuesday I get another box. Dinnerly has been sending me a lot of discounts lately which has been nice.
