The Friday Five, 9/16/22: 5 things I've been up to this week

This week has felt really long for some reason. On Sunday I leave for Vegas for work (the IBIE show, which takes place every three years, so the last time was 2019), I come back Wednesday night, and then Saturday my boyfriend and I are driving to Ohio for the wedding of a friend of his, and we'll be staying overnight then too.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Cooking. We had Blue Apron two weeks in a row because they were giving me some promos, and most of the meals were very delicious. Their sheet pan chicken with broccoli and sweet potatoes (pictured above) was particularly good—the combination of cheese, maple sauce, and mustard, plus Panko I believe, for the chicken topping was super tasty. Next week I am actually not getting a box because of travel, then the week later I think I have a Dinnerly box scheduled. I didn't do much dining out/takeout this week but parents and I got Hungry Howie's takeout, per usual, and my boyfriend and I also got Crumbl delivered (see below), via Uber Eats, since I had a promo to use.
  2. Seeing movies. I saw The Invitation last Friday, and although it definitely reminded me of a combo of Get Out + Ready or Not, overall I liked it—I'd probably give it 4/5 stars. At my infusion last Saturday, I watched Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris on digital, and I'd give that 3.5 or 4/5 as well, as it was cute. My parents and I watched the new Pinocchio on Disney+ on Saturday night and unfortunately I didn't really like it; I'd give it 2.5/5 stars, and that's generous, IMO. And last night I went to see See How They Run in the theater, and I'd give that one 3.5/5 stars, as Sam Rockwell and Saiorse Ronan were great in it.
  3. Watching the Emmy's. Thankfully, it was streaming on Peacock (NBC's app) because I do have a Peacock account, but I no longer have "regular" TV. It was fun to see the red carpet and also see who won, with a lot of wins going to Succession, Abbott Elementary, and some of my other favorites.
  4. Checking out the new BJ's Wholesale Club in Canton. I'll be doing another round of Instagram posts with them, so on Sunday my boyfriend and I headed over there to do some shopping and take some pics. They had my favorite pumpkin-shaped Reese's, for Halloween (similar to the eggs for Easter), and I think the peanut butter to chocolate ratio for the holiday Reese's are much better than the regular Reese's PB cups. We also went to Supernatural Brewing Co. beforehand, in Livonia, which had a pretty good food menu.
  5. Getting ready for IBIE. The last time I went to IBIE, for work, was 2019, because it's a triennial event (occurring every three years)—therefore, this year is the first year they've had to deal with COVID. It's always a lot of walking—the Las Vegas Convention Center is HUGE and apparently they have a new wing/hall this year as well—but I try to have some fun after work is done for the day too. I usually try to stop by Bellagio to see their garden conservatory display, have some good meals, and throw a few pennies (metaphorical coins, at this point, haha) into the slot machines. I already have dinner plans with a local friend as well, we usually go out for unlimited KBBQ which you can't find in the Detroit area, though I actually just had it in Rhode Island.
