The Friday Five, 2/9/24: 5 things I've been up to this week

I feel like I haven't done much this week but I think I actually have, haha ... let's look at the calendar and see. I am going to Duel in the D tomorrow, which should be fun, though: UM vs. MSU hockey, at LCA.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Dining out/doing takeout. Last Friday, I met a friend at Granite City, in Troy, which was nice because I hadn't seen her in a while and also hadn't been in a while—they have great happy hour deals, although sadly their BBQ chicken pizza and Maple Pepper Bacon flatbread aren't on there (my two faves); only the margherita pizza is on the HH menu. On Saturday night, I saw my parents, and we had Hungry Howie's takeout, and on Sunday, I went to an influencer event at 88 Banh Mi and Bowl (more about that below). On Tuesday, I met up with a friend at Crispelli's in West Bloomfield, for pizza. So basically, I've just been eating a lot of pizza this week, LOL.
  2. Influencer event in Warren. On Sunday, I drove out to Warren (from Farmington Hills, not Clawson, so a little bit of a drive) to try out 88 Banh Mi & Bowl, which was very good. I'm a big fan of banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches) and theirs was crispy and delicious. I also tried a sugarcane drink for the first time (not a huge fan of the taste, but interesting) and a little bit of their noodle bowls. See my reel about my visit here.
  3. Crumbl Brighton visit, for work. On Wednesday, I stopped by Crumbl Brighton before their grand opening (which is today, actually!) for work—we had been invited to their media event. It was more of an open house, but I recorded an interview with the owner, had got to sample their mini cookies (usually only available for catering) ... I'm a huge Crumbl fan, the Cinnamon Churro was definitely my favorite but the semi-sweet chocolate chip was also very good. I also tried their Lemon flavor which is available this week, and they had a sprinkles-esque one too, for Valentine's Day, which I did not try.
  4. Watching TV shows. I have some new ones on the docket: Black Cake, on Hulu, which I just started, and which is excellent, and Expats, on Prime. In addition, a few of my regular shows returned this week: Not Dead Yet (ABC/Hulu) and Abbott Elementary (also ABC/Hulu, I believe), both of which are a lot of fun. I also started Griselda on Netflix, which is good but I need to pay attention to it because about half of it is in Spanish.
  5. Seeing Poor Things at the theater. I saw Poor Things at the theater last night and it was pretty bizarre, haha ... the most I can give it is 3/5 stars, but I can see why Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, and Mark Ruffalo are getting Oscar nominations for it. I didn't really watch the trailer before seeing it, pretty much going in blind, and I liked the second half of the movie a lot more than the first half.
