The Friday Five, 10/10/25: 5 things I've been up to this week
It's been another busy week, although a lot of it involved staying home with the baby—my husband is back to work this week, and I have maternity leave until November, so I had my first (uneventful!) full day alone with her this week.

What I've been up to this week:
- Seeing the Taylor Swift movie with friends. I hadn't been to a movie at the theater since early August (Freakier Friday), the week before I was induced, so when a friend invited me to see The Life of a Showgirl (the Taylor Swift movie), I definitely said yes! We went to AMC Livonia to see it this past Friday—it was only playing Friday through Sunday. The movie had the premiere of her music video for The Tale of Ophelia (otherwise, you had to wait to view it on YouTube on Sunday night) and also broke down how it was filmed. In addition, it had lyrics videos for the rest of the songs on the album. It was a good time, and my friend made us friendship bracelets to bring with, which we traded with some other people there too.
- Getting takeout. My mother-in-law was in town until Tuesday, and on Saturday night she and I went to Meijer and then got Culver's takeout for the three of us (her and I and my husband). The Curderburger (see pic above) is back on the menu, and I like to order that and then eat the giant cheese curd patty by itself, LOL ... along with a side of cheese curds, of course. On Wednesday night, my husband and I ordered Doordash delivery from Royal Thai, in Bingham Farms; I have yet to find an entree I really like there, except maybe the drunken noodles, but they have mango sticky rice (although we didn't order it this time) and good Thai ice tea.
- Watching TV shows and movies. Shifting Gears is back for a second season, surprisingly (I like that show but don't LOVE it), on Hulu/ABC, so I watched some of that, as well as Chad Powers episode 3 (Hulu), High Potential and Abbott Elementary (Hulu), The Morning Show (AppleTV), Only Murders in the Building (Hulu), and Love is Blind (Netflix). In terms of movies, I watched about half of the original The Naked Gun, with Leslie Nielsen, on Paramount+ last night, in preparation for the Liam Neeson version, which Paramount+ also now has; I'm not sure I've ever seen the original or its two sequels.
- Cooking, kinda. My MIL made us a tasty pasta dish on Sunday night, and on Tuesday, I made a Giordano's sausage pizza that they had sent to me in the mail. Those are expensive usually, but I saw recently that Costco.com offers a three-pack for $90 (yes, $$$, but hear me out ... that also includes dry ice, I'd assume, or some way to keep the pizza frozen). Otherwise, we have just been doing easy meals, versus meal kits, since we don't have as much time.
- Getting baby things assembled. On Sunday, my husband and I went over to my parents' house—I had obtained a hand-me-down pack and play for them, but it was rather tall (literally just like a "baby jail" and not as fancy as the one we have at home). However, my MIL said she could switch theirs with them—theirs has a changing table and isn't as tall—and she would take the tall one, since all of my in-laws are around 5'9" or taller. Also, on Monday, my MIL and I figured out how to use the Graco carseats we have ... Baby K won't need that for a few months, but the boxes have been sitting in our foyer and my husband and I wanted to disassemble them and store the carseats somewhere.
