Suffs is coming to the Fisher Theatre, I believe for the first time ever, this upcoming April, and I've never seen it before so I'm excited to attend.

About the show:
The first national tour of SUFFS, the acclaimed Tony Award®-winning musical about the passionate American women who fought tirelessly for the right to vote, will arrive In Detroit as part of the 2025-26 Broadway Season. The inspiring, award-winning musical is set to appear at the Fisher Theatre April 14 – 26, 2026. Tickets will be available online at www.BroadwayInDetroit.com.

Created by Shaina Taub, the first woman to ever independently win Tony Awards for Best Book and Best Score in the same season, this “thrilling, inspiring and dazzlingly entertaining” (Variety) new musical boldly explores the triumphs and failures of a struggle for equality that’s far from over. It’s a given that the women of the suffragist movement—who called themselves “Suffs” for short—were brilliant, but as they fought tirelessly for the right to vote, they were also flawed, stubborn, passionate and funny. SUFFS tells their story: the remarkable friendships, the heartbreak, and how this movement brought them together—or, in some cases, tore them apart.

SUFFS is winner of the Outer Critics’ Circle Award for Best New Musical, two Drama Desk Awards including Best Score, and is “unquestionably the most emotionally stirring musical of the season” (Chicago Tribune). The successful Broadway production played a 10-month run at the Music Box Theatre from April 18, 2024, through January 5, 2025, and now the first national tour marches across North America.

Performance schedule for SUFFS appearing April 14 - 26, 2026 at the Fisher Theatre located at 3011 W. Grand Blvd., Detroit, MI are:

Tuesday through Saturday evening performances at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday matinees at 2:00 p.m.
Sunday matinees at 1:00 p.m.
Sunday evening performances at 6:30 p.m.
Special Open Caption performance on Sunday, April 19 at 6:30 p.m.

Individual tickets for SUFFS start at $35.00 (including parking & facility fee). Tickets will be available online at BroadwayInDetroit.com.

Trip Review: Bavarian Inn Lodge, Frankenmuth, MI

This past Friday, I had the pleasure of staying at the Bavarian Inn Lodge , in Frankenmuth, Michigan, for one night. I've been to Frankenmuth many times, and even stayed overnight in the neighboring Birch Run, but I had never stayed directly in the city before, so I was excited to stay at the Lodge. Friday was a rainy day, but we didn't let that stop us from having fun. We stopped at Halo Burger, in Birch Run, for lunch—there used to be locations in Novi and Troy, but both closed, and their food is very good—and then hit up Bronner's Christmas Wonderland, which is the largest Christmas store in the world.  For those who are unfamiliar with Frankenmuth , it is a German/Bavaria-themed town, about an hour north of the Metro Detroit area, nicknamed "Michigan's Little Bavaria."
