The Friday Five, 1/16/25: 5 things I've been up to this week

Somehow we are already in the midst of January—we've been getting a ton of snow here this week, both expected and unexpected, and I'm not a fan.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Celebrating my birthday. My birthday was on Tuesday and I took the day off work. I saw the 11am showing of Song Sung Blue, at Emagine Novi, which was fabulous—The Greatest Showman is one of my favorite movies, so I wasn't surprised Hugh Jackman did a great job with another movie which required a ton of singing; Kate Hudson was really good too. After that, I met my parents for lunch at the Cheesecake Factory, also in Novi, and then I grabbed my free Starbucks drink before picking up Baby K from daycare. All in all, it was a pretty good day.
  2. Watching TV shows. Hijack is back on AppleTV, but sadly only one episode, and Tell Me Lies released three new episodes on Hulu (my favorite toxic show, lol). I've also been watching Good Cop/Bad Cop on Netflix, which is good but very weird to see Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester, whom played her on Gossip Girl) as a cop, haha. I also caught up on Abbott Elementary and Shifting Gears, and I think there's a new High Potential for me to watch, plus Industry is back on HBO. My husband and I also finally got through the first episode of the new season of Fallout, on Prime, and it was very good; I like Walton Goggins in pretty much anything, too.
  3. Christmas with my parents. We were supposed to do this the first week of January, once we were back from Indiana, but my husband was sick, and then the week after that, the baby wasn't 100% either, so finally on January 11th we all met up to exchange presents and eat some pizza together.
  4. Picking up new glasses. I had ordered new glasses (I mostly use glasses to drive) from Visionworks a week or so ago, and they were ready for pickup, so I did that on Saturday. They are very similar to my "old" glasses (which I will keep as a second pair, now) but those were 5+ years old—I forget how old, exactly, but definitely pre-COVID—so it's probably good I got an updated prescription.
  5. Getting delivery/takeout/going out to eat. On Friday night, I think it was, we got Noori delivered, from Clawson, which is always a favorite. On Saturday, I drove to Green Lantern, in Southfield, to get my free small birthday pizza, and then stopped at Buddy's on the way home, in Farmington Hills, to get THAT free pizza, so we had a nice smorgasbord of pizzas ... I also got some cheesy bread at GL. We got Thai delivered one day, maybe Sunday—I forget—and as I mentioned above, I met my parents at Cheesecake Factory on Tuesday for my birthday lunch, which is always tasty.
