The Friday Five, 1/23/25: 5 things I've been up to this week
Cancel everything, because it's like zero degrees outside (windchill feel of -15 ...) today and also, our baby is sick, so we are keeping her home from daycare for a few days.

What I've been up to this week:
- Getting takeout/delivery. A lot this week—we got Mamaeatz via Doordash on Friday night (a place that does Indian sandwiches—and they have a four for $25 deal which is pretty good), some friends brought over Jersey Mike's on Saturday for lunch, and on Saturday for dinner we got Big Dip Burgers via DD. On Sunday, my husband had to go out for an errand so he got us The Great Greek gyros (BOGO deal), and on Monday, he brought back Culver's.
- Hanging out with friends. Rare these days! On Saturday, two friends and their 3-year-old daughter came over to meet Baby K for the first time, and they brought Jersey Mike's (as mentioned above), which was tasty. They stayed for a few hours and it was nice to see friends, as I don't get to do as much of that as I did pre-baby, for sure, nowadays.
- Getting a free mattress delivered. A long time ago, my parents and I used to enter the Gardner White Dream Team contest weekly, in the hopes of getting a new mattress for their condo. They must reuse the entries weekly, because I received an email addressed to Elizabeth Parker (my maiden name) saying I won ... it works out well because my in-laws need new mattresses for their guest rooms, so they are going to come down from Indiana next month to take it back with them, as well as one other extra mattress we have (I still have my MBR mattress from condo and also my memory foam one from my guest bedroom).
- Caring for a sick child. Around 3:30pm on Wednesday, daycare called me and said Baby K has a fever, so would have to be taken home—their rule is that she has to be 24-hours fever-free before returning, so we kept her out yesterday and also today. My husband and I both stayed home yesterday and today with her, although I worked for about two hours yesterday (just in time for the Outlook worldwide outage—anyone else experience that?) and I am hoping to do one or two tasks today, so my Monday isn't as crazy. Baby K already seems a bit better today, since we took her to the doctor's yesterday, so that is good.
- Booking Louisville stuff. My husband, SIL, and I are going to Louisville in April, for what will be my third trip there, and since I booked the Airbnb and a dinner reservation, my husband was in charge of distillery tour reservations. We will be trying out Stitzel-Weller this time, and probably also returning to Peerless; the other one we were looking at is Rabbit Hole, which he has been to on his bachelor trip (June 2024) but I have not been to. We went to Louisville last month with two friends, and also in November 2024 with the same friends (thankfully before I was pregnant, as it's a big bourbon city!), and both times were a lot of fun.
