The Friday Five, 4/3/26: 5 things I've been up to this week

This week went by super fast for some reason, and I'm glad it's Friday because I've had a cough all week, so I'm hoping I can get more rest this weekend to kick it.

& Juliet, Fisher Theatre, Detroit
& Juliet, Fisher Theatre, Detroit

What I've been up to this week:

  1. Seeing & Juliet at the Fisher Theatre. I had been looking forward to this one but wasn't entirely familiar with its plot, other than it was a twist on Romeo & Juliet. A friend mentioned it's a jukebox musical, and I was like, what's that? Turns out it used pop songs from the last 20-25 years or so and it was a TON of fun—it probably ranks up there with my top musicals now (in case you're wondering: Waitress and Phantom of the Opera). It's at the Fisher until April 12, and you can find more info about it here.
  2. Going to Sam's Club. Not the most exciting thing in the world, but we left Baby K with my parents last Saturday and had a quick lunch at Culver's by ourselves and went to Sam's, because they are doing a sale on baby formula right now. The only thing that annoyed me is I wanted to try their brownie sundae from their cafe ... waited about 5-10 minutes in line, only for them to tell me it would be seven minutes for them to make it, so I walked away without purchasing one. Maybe next time.
  3. Watching TV shows. Age of Attraction on Netflix is now over, but The Viall Files on YouTube has a three-hour reunion ... and yes, I'm two hours into it, haha. Two of the couples are still together, which is a better success rate than Love is Blind and similar shows, for the most part. Yesterday I caught up on Abbott Elementary and Scrubs, and hopefully today I'll have some time to watch Elsbeth, if there's a new one, plus The Last Thing He Told Me and some other of my Friday shows. I also binged Bait, on Prime, with Riz Ahmed, which was zany and pretty great; it prominently features a pig's head voiced by Patrick Stewart, if that gives you any idea of how weird it is, but Ahmed is fantastic in it.
  4. Getting takeout and delivery. I already mentioned that last Saturday we had a quick lunch at the Wixom Culver's. On Sunday, I had a $10 off $25 coupon from Jet's, so I kinda went all out and got us an XL BBQ chicken pizza—theirs is the best in the area, IMO, and it was $32 for 12 slices, so I paid $22—and also a large pepperoni. Honestly I could have done without the pepperoni ... I had leftovers all week and I was not mad about it, but the BBQ chicken was better than the pepperoni.
On Wednesday, the friend whom I went to the theater with brought us Culver's takeout, and yesterday my husband and I ordered Doordash from Noori for dinner, which is always tasty.
  5. Functioning with one car again. We brought my husband's car to the dealer this time to see if they can fix what's going on, so as of Tuesday, we are down to one car again. I had to cancel PT this week because my husband moved his WFH day to Tuesday (so he could drive us home from the dealer), hopefully I'll be able to do it next week still, if we get his car back by then. We are going to Indiana and then Louisville in about two weeks, so we will definitely need the car back sometime soon.
