The Friday Five, 5/15/26: 5 things I've been up to this week

I am pretty sure Baby K is in a 9-month sleep regression, so this week has been pretty rough ... either that or her teething has kept her awake. We have been lucky to get 5-6 hours of sleep each night, and it has not been consecutive, LOL ...

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Colonoscopy prep. Always the most FUN weekend of the year (right ....) and the fact that it happened to coincide with my first Mother's Day was the cherry on top—to be fair, I did schedule it myself, but I think I scheduled it in May or summer 2025 when I was pregnant, as I usually book it about a year beforehand. On Saturday, I had only liquids; on Sunday, I had liquids plus four liters of prep drinks total, at 8am and 5pm; and on Monday, I had 8am prep drinks. Did learn something this time though: you can have liquids (just not soup or Jello) up to two hours before you leave for the procedure ... in the past I always thought you couldn't even have water, etc. on procedure day.
  2. My first Mother's Day. Which honestly was pretty terrible (for the reason listed above plus others). Hoping for a redo this weekend but no idea if I will get it. :(
  3. Attending a Yelp event in Ferndale. Yelp posted about an event at the new Pavilion Street Market in Ferndale—basically what used to be Treat Dreams, but now they have four other vendors there as well—and I was excited because it started at 4pm on a Thursday, for a "drop by" experience, and I was working at the office in Birmingham that day, which wasn't too far away. I recruited a friend to go with and we go to samples foods/entrees from Treat Dreams, the arepa bar there, a dumpling place, a beverage place, and a few others. I really loved the vegan dumplings I had plus the tequenos, which were like little Spanish breadsticks. I was also very curious to see how they were going to convert Treat Dreams to a food hall, and they basically just made each counter they had into a different vendor.
  4. Eating good foods. Other than the event I mentioned above, we got Noori via Doordash on both Friday and Tuesday nights—the reason for that is that on Friday, I didn't finish my chicken (they give you big portions) so my husband finished mine over the weekend, so Tuesday we ordered again.
  5. Watching TV shows and movies. I watched Send Help, with Rachel McAdams and Dylan O'Brien, which was a lot bloodier than I thought it would be, but overall pretty good (except for a slightly incredulous ending). I am finally caught up on Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage, and I watched The Testaments and Margo's Got Money Problems on Wednesday—I'm sad that Margo has its season finale next week, and I hope they renew it. DMV also has its *series* finale next week, I believe, because CBS cancelled it, which is a bummer—it was a pretty funny show IMO.
