The Friday Five, 6/19/26: 5 things I've been up to this week

Overall this has been a good week, and Baby K has a doctor's appointment (10-month well visit) today so I was able to sleep until 8am or so, which was also very nice.

What I've been up to this week:
  1. Buying a new car, and more car issues. My husband's 2014 Hyundai had about 140,000 miles on it and was nearing end of life, so we got him a 2026 Explorer. It's a super nice car, but was a "courtesy car" for the dealership, meaning it had 1,000 miles on it already. There were a few quirks that needed fixing, so we had it for about two days and then they gave HIM a courtesy car (also an Explorer, not as nice as ours tough) so he's had that this week.
In terms of MY car (also a 2014, a Honda Accord), I went to go do errands during my lunch on Wednesday and it went from like 1/4 tank of gas to showing zero by the time I had driven one street away. I immediately turned around and went home ... I had never seen that before. :(
We luckily have a gas can, so on Wed. night my husband filled it up with about five gallons of gas, and that night my car was showing 1/4 tank again. I was going to take it to the shop but it was holding at 1/4 tank, so on Thurs. I tried again to get to the gas station, and was able to fill it up completely. Fingers crossed that it was just a weird, one-time fluke.
  2. Hanging out with a friend. I don't get to do that much nowadays with a baby, but a friend came over on Sunday afternoon and brought us takeout from The Great Greek WB (their BOGO deal is still ongoing, btw, and is great - about $14 for two huge gyros). She came to visit with Baby K too, of course, and it was nice to see her.
  3. Getting takeout/delivery. As I mentioned above, last Sunday we had The Great Greek. We got delivery from El Patio this week as well as Shesh Besh Grill down the street (chicken shawarma-type sandwiches). I have a free Green Lantern bread coupon I have to use by Wednesday, too, so hopefully we can get takeout from the Southfield location. I also got myself 2941 Mediterranean Street Food on Thurs. when I was out doing errands - I LOVE their sandwiches - and Wed. night my husband brought home Culver's for dinner since he was at Costco Gas to get me gas.
  4. Getting our garage door fixed. Everything decided to break this week, apparently, but this one was at least an easy fix ... I called on Monday and the garage door company came over on Tuesday. It looked like some sort of critter had eaten through the wires, so they replaced them / fused them together somehow, it took less than 15 minutes and now it works fine.
  5. Watching movies/TV shows. I binged Wayward, on Netflix, which came out last year, and I LOVED it except the ending was super ambiguous. It's classified as a limited-series, meaning there would only be the one season, but I hope they do more. I rewatched the original Toy Story and I will rewatch the others, too, in preparation for the new one, and I also started Cape Fear, on AppleTV, which is good and creepy; I have never seen the movies though (one from the 1960s and one from 1991, I believe, with Robert De Niro) so perhaps I should watch those.
