The Friday Five, 9/25/26: 5 things I've been up to this week
Writing up a quick Friday Five before work today—I opted to do daycare dropoff instead of pickup, because I'm seeing Practical Magic 2 later, which I'm excited about.

What I've been up to this week:
- Eating out and getting takeout. Last Saturday, my husband and I went to Texas Roadhouse for a late lunch, around 3pm, and my parents watched Baby K for us. I hadn't been in exactly a year, it seemed, also on Sept. 19, because it came up in FB memories for that day. We split the Cactus Blossom (I had a free app coupon, which was nice) and I also got the NY Strip steak along with the Caesar salad, loaded sweet baked potato, and of course their signature rolls.
On Sunday, Baby K and I met a friend at Guernsey's, and I had their two-piece chicken with mashed potatoes; it was very good but a bit pricey IMO ($12) for the amount of food I got. I also picked up a half-gallon of Mackinac Island peanut butter fudge ice cream to take home.
On Wednesday, a friend picked up Crispelli's takeout for us before the show at the Fisher (see below for that), as well, which is always tasty—I always get their margherita pizza. It wasn't quite as warm as dining in, but was still good. - Watching TV shows. I started watching Crew Girl on Netflix this week and it is pretty good; it's apparently been renewed for season two, also. I finished The Boroughs (also Netflix), which I liked too, and I still need to finish Widow's Bay—I watched one episode of that a while back and couldn't really get into it, but with all of its Emmy wins, I tried it again, and now I like it more. I also tried out Youth, on HBO, last Sunday, with Sharon Horgan, and I enjoyed that, too. Stuart Fails to Save the Universe aired its season finale today, as well, so I'm hoping to watch it later.
- Seeing The Notebook at the Fisher Theatre. I was looking forward to this one because The Notebook is one of my favorite movies, and it did not disappoint; it was also funnier than I thought it would be. It's playing at the Fisher until October 4, and I definitely recommend it, although you should bring tissues, too. I rewatched the movie last night and it was also as good as I remembered it being.
- Planning a work trip. Kind of last minute, but on Monday I was invited on a work trip to the Boston area (Plymouth, technically) and I will be leaving next week, Wednesday, and coming back Saturday; the trip is Wed-Fri, and then I'm taking an extra day to see family in the area. The invite was from a cranberry company and I will be wading in a cranberry bog next Thursday and also learning all about cranberries, and I'm looking forward to it.
- Seeing friends. It was nice to see friends this week, as I don't always get to do that anymore. I saw one friend at Guernsey on Sunday, as I mentioned above, for lunch, and I went to see The Notebook with another friend, who was kind enough to pick up the Crispelli's takeout for us since I had to get Baby K from daycare. At the Fisher shows I usually run into people I know, too, which is also nice.
